There are definitely things JSJ does that KD does. JSJ is currently the better defender. Both are best suited as being the low man, and guarding the 4th best POA offensive player. They both like to elevate and shoot over people. KD makes it at a much higher clip. KD is old, and he has problems trying to do things he used to be able to do sometimes. JSJ is young, and he has problems trying to do things he's never been able to do sometimes. KD provides a ton of highly efficient offense. JSJ provides an average amount of average efficient offense.

Reed is a good defender youre just biased. I had knick fans shocked how he was guarding Brunson and rockets fans saying he can't defend lol its you. You realize the rockets were one of the best defensive teams in the league right? Your eye test doesn't match the stats because you're Becky Hammond saying jalen Brunson is too small. The Rockets issues start with offense.
JSJ's activity and energy make him a better defender. That said, Durant was easily better defensively than Sengun, Davison, and Green this past year.

I will also say this. Most of the time when the Rockets had a lead they lost it when KD was on the bench resting. I watched double digit leads blown by Reed taking bad shots, Tari Eason making dumb dribble drives with no plan, Bari did both. I remember a bunch of games the Rockets were moving the ball looking like an NBA team and then all of sudden, they were a LA fitness pick up squad.
