Flawed argument as Dwight is not a superstar and neither is his abomination of a low post game. For those of us paying attention, Harden is OBVIOUSLY willing to share the ball with above average offensive talents. This isn't even debatable.
Oh I stopped reading when You said Dwight..Who the hell still consider them super star? Maybe we have different definition for superstars. To me, players outside of top 7-8 are not "super". Is Dwight even in top 25?
I disagree you about superstar status as I respectfully will go by NBA's definition of a superstar == MAX $$. I don't think nobody is saying he wont share the ball. The system with GS is a little different than hours where one person holds the ball all the time. Will we be able to maximize KD's talent given our system? I personally don't know whereas Korver taking Brewer's and/or Dekker's shot, I think we can all agree its black and white.
KD is a b****, has almost always been a b****, and will always be a b****. He was a beta next to Westbrook's alpha in OKC. Then he ran off to join a 73-9 team that he lost to in large part because of his crap performance in the clutch. Westbrook and Harden had the balls to sign extensions with their teams. Even now that he's joined his superteam KD is insecure as hell. Lebron joined Miami and said f the haters, held a press conference announcing how many titles he'd win. KD is still scared of public opinion, he hid in his house for two days after joining GS because he was scared of the criticism. Own up to your decisions, b****. I hope he chokes in the playoffs. I'd root for any other team over GS at this point, even the Jazz. There's no one on the Jazz I actually hate anymore, their roster is actually full of decent guys. Their fans are another issue. GS is detestable top to bottom.
When did the NBA ever define max players as superstars? By your logic, 2-time MVP Steph Curry was and is not a 'superstar'.
How much do you think he will make next time he signs a contract? Midlevel or superstar money? We all have certain expectations when player X signs a max contract don't we? The amount of money we paid Dwight reflected our team's expectations of him - to play like a superstar and get us a ring. He did not produce but that doesn't remove the fact that he was viewed as one by most during that time. Remember the ongoing question then? Is this Dwight or Harden's team? He was suppose to be one of our superstar.
You are making things up now. Who said MAX $$ = superstar? Max offer is basically what small market team have to do to keep their best player. And the amount of Max is different depending on how many pro the player has played among some other factors. Is Mike Conley a super star to you? He is the #2 highest paid player this year. Parsons got the max he could get under the CBA. was he a super star?
Ask yourself this, why would player X signing a contract on the same year make higher/lower than another? Its because of expectations. Conley is borderline and debatable because of his defense but Parsons on the other hand, does not make the same as Harden and Conley. That is the max money I am referring to. Sorry to have derailed this thread. We might have to continue this next time as game is about to start. Cheers!
Where are you going with this? This was not the premise of your argument. There's absolutely no point in engaging in a discussion if every other post veers further and further away from your premise that 'superstars won't get their touches playing with Harden because Dwight.' You can't just make up definitions for 'superstars' to validate your argument.
Expectation? No it's calculated based on a formula. If Harden, Horford and Conley have same years of pro experience and all star appearance, and their current team want to keep them by offering a max, the amount would be pretty much the same. There's a different Max amount is they went to a different team.
Honestly, I don't know if I want to have KD on the Team. I would look for a superstar who is willing to take on our system and play a team game. Looking at how GSW played out. Let's look for people like the gordon's who are hungry for winning and like our style. Spurs don't need 3 superstarts to win consistently.
I don't know - from what I have seen of GS this year Curry sure looks a lot like a 3rd wheel and at times even unhappy. It's a long season and they may eventually click but I get the sense that Durant has upset the team dynamic more than they were anticipating. I just get the sense Durant, Klay, and Draymond are on the same page with how they play - guys who hate their opponent each night and play like it while Steph and Barnes were the easy going counters to Klay and Draymond last year - now that balance is out of whack with durant in place of Barnes. While the new CBA certainly financially incentivizes players to stick with their teams - ironically in response to Durant's move, I don't think it's entirely outside the realm of possibility that Curry decides to leave given how much he makes in endorsements and how important his family and the "team family" are to him. You heard it here first - the body language doctor sees something isn't right with Steph...
Right but it will still impact the salary for anything KD signs. GS has full bird rights on Curry while none on KD. Does KD want to keep signing 1 year deals? Sure, but it's a very risky deal. Besides that GS needs a bench, if they loose in the Finals again there is no way they go into next season with the same team with the thought of not building on that bench. With that said GS has $65 mill tied up among 6 players. Curry will for sure get his max of $35 mill per. Which brings them at around $100 mill per day. That leaves u with $6 mill and a luxury tax of another $13 mill. Unless Iggy and Livingston willing to take that pay cut GS back at square one win having no bench. There is no way GS can stay competitative in the PO with having a depleted bench year in year out bc they refuse to let one of their scorers go which I believe will be Klay. CAVS and GS will be in the finals and GS swill loose bc that bench is not going to get any better unless a mega trade that includes Klay goes down between now and the trade deadline.
Golden state got 4 all stars (4 max or near max players) and that's obviously not sustainable in the long run.
All he has to do is Win it all a couple times. Even if it was a B**ch move to go to Golden State, and it would be an even more of a B**ch move for him to move to another team after GS gets pounded by us. All he has to do is win the ring to silence the public. If Durant said " I want to sign in Houston." Would you honestly say no? Would you still hate Durant if we won a ring with him? I don't think so.... Would you hate him even more if he won multiple championships for us? Who cares what the rest of nba or nation thinks about us at this point. We just have to accept the fact that we'll never be the golden boys of the NBA. Let them hate us all the way through the championship parades. Let Sports Illustrated shun us again. We're Rockets fans. We're used to it. If Durant wants to come here and not disrupt the chemistry we have and not cost us an overly large amount of depth then let him come over to the Dark Side.
Honestly Durant would fit really well with Harden, my issue is playing with Westbrick seems to have infected KD with ISO-itis, during crucial possessions instead of running a team play KD calls for an iso instead. I dont want a dude obsessed with MJ/Kobe heroics I want a guy who knows how to play as a team. This is one big reason Lebron is better than his contemporaries, he doesnt carry a stigma of trying to be like Mike anymore.
