Kazakhstan's people are in the streets/burned the Presidential Mansion Their official govt is disbanded Their so called "president" is leading the military against the people and asking Russia for help Russia is sending Peace Keepers .... more to come.
Weird to hear, from my little understanding it's actually a pretty well-developed country for the region.
People are dying in an uprising but let's post a Borat meme. Well played. Anyways this is right as Russia looks to double dip into Ukraine and amid threats to NATO. Kazakhstan is a key exsoviet state, part of CSTO, and part of its buffer with China and other countries. This destabilization seems timed perfectly amind all of this drama. Also to note Finland is talking about joining NATO now.
I've been. Almaty is just like any other big European city, with its own cultural quirks. Road quality in the south is mostly good. Kyrgyzstan outside of Bishkek and a couple of other cities is an adventure.

A lot of people in this region of the world look back fondly on the Soviet Union.... they were influenced by Russian culture for decades, they were part of a mighty empire and there was law and order before....... things are not so good in a lot of the former Soviet Union states, so I am not surprised they are pining for the "good ole days", which we in the West don't think were so great.... but having known former Soviet state people living in America now... they will tell you it is WORSE in that part of the world now.
This is what happened when you get in bed with China. Sooner than later your country is fukked just like the rest of the world who’s doing business with these bastards. Triple G shoulda knocked WinnieTheFlu out with the left hook and then Kassym out with the uppercut.

Kazakhstan has the 12th highest proven crude oil reserves in the world and its Kashagan field, the world's fifth largest reserve, is expected to be producing 450,000 barrels per day by 2025. It is also the world's 12th largest exporter of natural gas. All conflicts are ultimately economic.
All these issues are about oil. If Ukraine and Kazakhstan didn't have oil Putin wouldn't give a damn. More than oil, it's natural gas which Putin is Europe's biggest supplier. That's how he remains rich and relevant
