Sure, there are a lot of other people that deserve credit too. But this thread WAS about Amare, right? Or should we include a thread about other NBA players? Or better yet, other people with adversities. Come on man! Just say it. You are jealous of his attention. I mean, why else would it bother you? For your information, other NBA players have been spotlighted about their upbringing (for many years). It's just that you seem to be ignoring them at this time. Amare is getting attention today because he's a new player (new school). And in a few years, it will be someone else's story to tell. Life goes on.
I was having a discussion. And it wasnt about you and me. It was about the discussion of how media in general treats him. You dont have to make it personal and think that I was only talking to you. I dont have a personal relationship with any of these players. I just watch NBA for fun and enjoy a good game. But at the same time, I am not a big fan of favourtism. If Amare gets credit for something, that's good. But seems unfair that other people in the NBA dont get credited for same. It's not about Amare. I like his game and I wish him well. I am not sure why you had to make it personal and start pointing fingers as if I am jealous of him. Should I go around being jealous of Yao and his fame? Or Shaq? Or Kobe? Next time I question something about someone, it's because I am jealous? I am just pointing something out that is done by the media to glorify their story. The same was done with Yao. When they want to make Yao look like a superhero they bring out stuff like how he had to come from a different country, adjust in short period of time bla bla bla. It's not about Amare. It's about glorification, exagerration, and making things look bigger than they are.
Yeah, that's true. The media will exploit people and things. A lot of that is about money and profit (networks). I try to see through the "romanticizing" of the media and just look at the stark reality of things (which is a lot more "boring")
