Nah man, Kawhi is a much better player than PG whether or not he's on the Spurs. PG is an inconsistent player who barely gets to the line and can't even average more than 24 ppg as a 1st option. His defense isn't on Kawhi's level either. There is no way I could ever picture PG being an MVP level player like Kawhi is. PG is closer to Gordon Hayward than he is to Kawhi, and some of y'all saying that y'all would take him or dudes like Draymond over Kawhi is just crazy. No GM in the league would even think about taking them over Kawhi.
Kawhi is top 5 in my book. I think he will likely be passed by a couple of younger guys, but right now there are few I would start a team with over him.
Kawhi is amazing. His natural passing ability will never be on a Lebron/Harden level, but they will never have a Jordan-esque mid-post game like him either. Marcus Morris. :/
I don't know if he is overrated or not but he is definitely is being treated like top 3 player in the league, you cant touch him, travels about %60 of the time when he goes to the basket, literally extend his arm everytime he goes to the basket to clear path for the ball.
I agree with the OP Kawhi is overrated. Kawhi is 6'7 and built like a rock however he is very nonathletic. When was the last time you seen him jump higher than 24 inches? He has very long arms/hands so this forces him to play below the rim for his height/frame. His defense isn't shut down like an MJ, Gary Payton, Michael Cooper, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman (in his prime), LeBron (when he wants to) but the media/hype constantly reminds you how elite he is. Hell if I had immensely long arms a 6'7 frame and my hands were able to palm watermelons I would be a force to reckon with on the court. By default he is already made to be a good defender along with a great system defense he's in the best spot to be in. His offense is shooting 3s, mid-range, and jump hooks in the paints. No monster dunks over people, no crisp fadeaways, no crossovers, no double pump layups, not looking to create for others. You put a Scottie Pippen/LeBron on him what will happen? He will look winded (slouches down with two hands on knees) and have nothing left in the tank for defense. This is what separate him from being in the conversation of these guys: LeBron/Westbrook/AD/Durant/Giannis/Paul George are true freaks of nature and never seem to run out of gas and can do a little of everything exceptionally well. Kawhi is basically a Ron Artest in a great offense/defense system in place where his now the GO-TO-GUY. They are practically splitting images of each other however one gets branded with a bad rep from the media which tarnished his legacy.
Yeah, he's definitely not on that level. I knew it would happen after last night. Everyone overreacted to us blowing them out in game 1 now they're doing the same with game 2, that's just the way the media swings these days. Oh and btw he can't be the best two way player if he's not the best player on the planet Reggie FU**IN Miller. What the hell would you know about playing defense anyway!
you can easily tell who follows the league as an entirety over the course of a season in this thread, as opposed to being exposed bc they're playing houston right now.
lol man you guys bias on this board is really getting crazy. Khawi is ridiculously good only weakness is he's not a playmaker
I don't think he's top two. I think I'd still put him behind LeBron and a healthy Kevin Durant. The other players on the OP's list are debatable. I think he gets some extra credit with basketball purists because he seemingly has no weaknesses. He's just really good, if not elite, at everything. He's about as complete a player as there is in the game today. Can he take a bad team and elevate them to contender status, like LeBron is able to do (albeit, in the cupcake conference)? I doubt it, but we probably will never really know.
You don't think Kawhi is shut down? You think Ron Artest and Kawhi are comparable? You're comparing Michael Cooper to Kawhi? OK.... wow.
A lot of players have the offensive talent to improve teams dramatically but that doesn't mean that players who don't have that skillset are automatically worse. the Sixers probably need someone like Lillard a lot more than Draymond, but that doesn't make Lillard better than Draymond. If your goal is to win a ring, Draymond gets taken over Lillard 10/10 times.
Man you are as slow as Reggie Miller and Bruce Bowen combined. Let me lay it out for you. No one was comparing him to Lebron James during the season or even asking if he was better at that. So because they won last night with another blowout in this series (the first belonging to us) the media is going to start blowing it out of proportion. Just like they had been with Russell Westbrook's triple doubles. Dude go back to that sports page if you can't follow simple ingles.
Not that Barkley is an authority, but there have been people really high on Kawhi's game for a while: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2016/1/...s-spurs-cavaliers-charles-barkley-best-player Popovich may be biased but he isn't really one to inflate the individual greatness of his own players -- he said he thought Kawhi was the best player in the game before the series started. And people have been referring to Kawhi as the best "2-way" player in the game all year. It's not a big jump to go from that to "best player".
