I for one thought it was pretty smart for dylan to stop arguing with you, or giving you the time of day for that matter. Severe Rockets Fan, just a bit of advice, I would suggest the same.
Okay, let me say this before this thread gets closed (which I can't believe hasn't happened yet). gettinbranded, I'm probably the last person here to be the one to tell you this, but I'm telling you this because believe it or not, you remind me a lot of myself when I first started here 4 months ago. I hate to admit that, but it is true. When I first started here, I grew frustrated that no one was "really" listening to me (that's what I thought). I would do a post or a thread and think that it was very good, and much to my dismay, people didn't respond like I thought they would. As a matter of fact, I decided that if no one would respond due to my thinking that my posts were "good", then I would get attention another way: by pissing them off and acting like an *******. Some of the posts and threads that I did back then makes me cringe now. Read that thread and my posts, and tell me if that reminds you of yourself. If I had only been patient, and waited my turn and kept doing thought-out posts, then I would think that there would be nothing here for me to be ashamed of. So, when the *******/prick persona wasn't working, I then tried to be Mr. FunnyMan or as Behad called me, "Bugs Bunny". I had some lame threads in the hangout forum, including the infamous "Top 100", but here's a good example of me trying to get attention any way that I could get it: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22369&highlight=August Just searching for that thread makes me cringe. I guess I had my epiphany after The Top 100 fiasco. I realized that if I wanted to stay and contribute in a valuable way, then I would have to get over the fact that not every thread that I do is going to have over 20 replies, not every post that I do is going to have someone quote it. It's called going through a phase for attention and learning that it's better to be respected than to be derided. What would have helped me more than anything would have been for me to lurk for a while...like a couple of months. I, pretty much registered and started posting without even reading the BBS. Also, reading posts of other posters whether it's in the Rockets forum or the Hangout forum or whatever helped me learn how to improve. I hope that when people read my posts now that they can tell a big difference compared to when I first started. Sadly, there will probably always someone who will remember the post in which I called out Band Geek Mobster, and never give me a fair chance in reading my posts. However, that is my fault and I have no one to blame but myself. I'm posting this to you to ask you to think about what I have said. I think everyone will agree that Clutch and the rest of the admins have been very lenient on you. I realized that if I didn't change for the better than I would either be booted off or held in such disdain like you. You always like to talk about how much basketball knowledge you know. Why don't you in your next 20 posts concentrate on posting serious basketball things or stuff that aren't smartass one liners or a smilie post? You may be surprised to see that people may respond in a positive way, but then again, they may look and see the name "gettinbranded" and move on without giving your post a chance. If you can't do this, then I'll have no other choice but to think that you can't post anything that contributes positively to the board and that you enjoy pissing people off. BTW - dylan called me on a post in the hangout forum as hypocritical. I didn't like it because I knew he was right. My ego got in the way and I felt like I had to respond. He never responded back...you know why, gb? Because it wouldn't have served any purpose. If anything, I looked even worse because I was unwilling to face the music, so to speak. However, dylan didn't do this because he hated me, he did this because he was concerned about the integrity of this site. He pointed that out to you because of that reason. You might argue that he contradicted himself, but I'm just telling you that he wasn't "out to get you". Besides, people make mistakes here. I do all the time. Hell, this whole post might be a mistake, but you get my point. Anyway, that is all I wanted to say. I hope that you will take this seriously and try to change your ways.
Manny---thanks for writing. I don't know where the "great basketball knowledge" thing got started, but the times I've ever said it have been in joking and jest. I learn more here than anywhere. I really enjoy the personalities around here. I don't care if people read or respond to my posts---I just get peeved when I'm conducting myself the way Clutch asked me to and a select few with nothing else to do take it upon themselves to persecute me. Mind their business, and I'll mind mine. Thanks again.
I highly doubt that GB. Your still as annoying as you were before you got suspended because you won't just shut up and leave it alone! You have to keep picking and responding to every little thing someone says to you. Just shut up, for once!
