Because you don't understand metaphor, don't get angry at others who do.

Common the artist deserved the invitation to the white house on talent alone, I do not share some of his views though, if you're looking for a role model in hip hop I can almost put my hand on fire for Talib Kweli.

Yes and the saying about reaping what you sow is only about farming. It isn't about anything else.

I hope you look into the idea of metaphor in literature, art, songs, and other forms of expression.

This is pretty much what he meant by the interracial comments. You see other black artist similar to him say the same thing like Jill Scott. It's not that they are completely against it, they are against disrespect of self and disrespecting black women when interracial marriage is sometimes put on a pedestal for black men. Until you meet a black guy who dates ANYONE but black women only then can you understand what Common meant by it.
It's not a simple thing that you can look at one quote and call it racist.

Do the words "We came unarmed... this time" mean anything to you?

Really? Isn't one of the people leading the criticism against Obama on this "issue" the same guy (Hannity) who said it was treason to say anything critical of the President during a time of war (until Obama became President)?

For those that don't follow hip-hop, it might not make sense, but Common is about as "non-thug" as you can get. This topic wouldn't be worthy of discussion if Rove called Lil Wayne, Lil John, or any other rapper with Lil preceding his name.

This is why hip hop isnt for everybody....Just because you sag, wear your hat backwards, or listen to 97.9 doesnt mean you can "feel" what these artists are talking about...

Jon Stewart owns O'Reilly while discussing the Common situation:

the sad thing is, most of them have probably never even heard of Common or his music.

it's not like Michelle invited 50 Cent. jesssus.

This is like assuming "Country artist I don't listen to and have the courtesy not to stereotype" is a member of the KKK, because some of the members of the genre...have certain leanings.
Or that deadmau5 is a hockey player by night who loves maple syrup because he's Canadian.
Or that Swedish House Mafia is actually Tony Soprano et al.

basically, if you're ignorant about the topic, don't be assumin

I don't even care about this, but I am glad to see that it resulted in another Stewert-O'Reilly beatdown. Those are always enjoyable.
