Who was worth the pick? Stoudamire was the only other player in the draft who is comparable. Despite the hype, he benefits tremendously from the Suns run and gun offense and Nash's presence. He is not a great rebounder, passer, shot blocker or overall defender. He is is great at receiving passes down low and dunking the crap out of the ball. His game is still way too limited for anyone to declare him a much better player than Yao.

If you were to go back and look at all then possible scenarios, getting Yao was probably the best we couldve done.

Don't forget that one of the biggest reasons we got McGrady was because of his dersire to play with Yao.

Has any real Rox fan ever claimed he was Chinese Jesus? You seem to be fixated on this term for some reason. That sounds like your own advertising and expectations. I expected him to be 15 and 8 by his 3rd year, so he hasn't underachieved in my book.

These are third year stats from some of the NBA's best players that were drafted out of highschool. I chose players who didn't go to college because the watered down talent pool and the competition is comparable to Chinese basketball.

Kevin Garnett: 18.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg
Kobe Bryant: 19.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg
Tracy Mcgrady: 15.4 ppg, 6.3 rpg
    Jermain O'neal: 2.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg
Rashard Lewis: 14.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg

You still have the chance to trade Yao for some players you think were worth the pick, like Mike Dunleavy , Drew Gooden, or even Jay Williams.

this thread should not exist anymore in my opinion because malone will NEVER play for our organization. mr. alexander will never sign him he said it last year after a spat between the two during the playoffs in which les called malone a dirty player and karl went on a rampage talking about les alexander as a sh** a** owner and such. so lets just drop the whole karla can be the answer thing

If we drag Karl out of retirement, it'll bring up hopes to dig up Scottie.

I predict that in less than two weeks Clutch will leak that the Rockets have signed Malone.

Glad to see that this thread has for the most part, remained classy, with most posters respecting others' opinions and not bashing them.

You mean Yao wasn't immaculately conceived and the Three Wise Men weren't named Rudy, Carol and Les?
