Anyone who advocates signing Karla Malone should receive an automatic ban from this board for at least a week. Seriously.

One of the statements Karl made when he retired was that it was for good and that he wouldn't be like other players who retire and come back. He said he didn't like that and wasn't about to do it. You may hate him, but he seems like the guy that would stand behind those statements.

I wonder how Yao would do under Malone's summer training regimen. I think Donyell Marshall did that one year and his numbers picked up tremendously.

There is the risk that Yao will pick up throwing a dirty kick or elbow and will start staring at his guns needlessly.

Doesn't that only apply to players which were on another team's roster on March 2nd? Otherwise, why did Boston wait until after the cutoff to sign Gary Payton (who was cut before the cutoff), and Indiana wait until after the cutoff to sign Dale Davis (who was also cut before the cutoff)? Since Karla was not on another teams roster on March 2nd, I'm guessing he could still be signed and play in the postseason, unless there is a second cutoff.

As for his retirement, he was at least contemplating playing for the Spurs until after he visited there. Maybe he didn't think he would be a contributor there, playing behind Duncan. Here, he would obviously be a starter and a contributor. I think there is only a .0001% chance of this happening, but if Karla said he would play for the Rockets for the minimum, I would forgot about his evil past and sign the deal with the devil. I don't see how him taking time away from Spoon, Baker, and Padgett would hurt the long-term health of this franchise.

    DaDakota,

Being retired doesn't mean **** when you can outplay Juwan Howard and Vin Baker. You're stoned if you think CD, JVG and Les haven't thought about calling Malone. What's he got to lose right now?
