I give props for never letting his emotions show on the field. I've never seen him blame a safety (I see this all the time with other corners) or yell at coaches when his man makes a catch. He takes all the **** Texans fans give him pretty well. Bob McNair prides himself on having good character players and despite all his faults on field, Kareem seems like a good character dude.
He wasn't saying that KJax gave up the TD but saying besides how well he did on that TD INT, he played well during the rest of the game.
Yes...I should have stated it differently. He made a good read on that INT he returned, but I was more impressed with his ability to locate the ball on the deep pass and get a hand on it.
I have been as tough on him as anyone, but no denying he played like an outstanding CB out there today. Great to see.
So are all the haters still saying they will take McCourty over Kjax, or are we on the perpetual "lets see how he does next week".
some of the haters still remember beast mode lance moore last year. Good for him today. he's going in the right direction.
About two minutes before the interception (when he made the play on the deep ball), I texted my brother to tell him that Kareem has been playing great this year. Then, I turned to my wife and told her that Kareem catches a ton of flack from Texans fans, even though he never really deserved it. I went on a rant about how he was thrown out there, with horrible coaching, as a 23 year-old (I think), and when he didn't respond, the whole debacle was all his fault. I told her he's been improving ever since, and this year he's been great. Right when I finished saying that, he gets a pick 6. Made me look like a genius.
Add me to the list of apologists, for about a year and a half I, ripped him constantly. But he has turned into at the least a solid NFL corner, who appears to be getting better consistently. Still fails to get his head around occasionally, which agitates me, but I'm long past done bashing. He was thrown into a tough situation as a rookie, being the lead corneron a defense that clearly had a terrible scheme.
We are gonna have to hide him against New England. Brandon Lloyd tends to do nothing and then get spurts, so just put Jackson on him until Brady starts calling his number. Afterwards you switch Joseph onto Lloyd and put Jackson on Welker or Edelman. With Aaron Hernandez and Gronk out there though...I don't know. Smarter guys than me have to play defense on those Pats.
Aside from the party fliers with strippers and the c*ck fighting pix I think KJ, more than anyone, benefits from having a guy like J-Jo on the field to help his maturation process. Going into the year, the biggest holes on the defense were up the middle (Cody/Mitchell and James) and #25 and #21. Hoping the young corners continue to improve, but the interior of the defense could still prove to be problematic.
He was terrific yesterday...and not just on the INT. He covered well all day. I was very impressed. Good for him!
