How about song recommendations? If you have a buddy, you should croon out "For all the girls I've loved before" ala Willie & Julio Iglesias. You also can't go wrong with "Sister Christian." Or hell, in that vein, any Bon Jovi or Def Leppard song will bring the house down. And if the crowd's really getting into it, pull out all the stops with your wildest rendition of Ghostbusters. Karaoke...that's where you sing with a backup band prerecorded on tape, right? Then, my guess for the best karaoke in town would be any night a pop artist comes through Toyota Center.
I went to Spotlight Karaoke with my (ex?) girlfriend who was into that, and we had a really good time and didn't notice anything resembling gun battles. We also went to the Scare-e-oke that was held in the KPFT backyard for Halloween. That was fun and sort of family-oriented....
