everyone in his staff looks a combination of embarrassed and completely devoid of thought and his handlers keep trying to take the mic away :oops::rolleyes:- it's not getting any better - I'm not even sure it's best to break out the artificial intelligence Biden ads at this point because it will highlight the stark difference of what the person actually is

Biden leans on family with political future at risk

    https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4754948-joe-biden-family-political-future-risk/

    excerpt:

President Biden is increasingly leaning on his family while navigating calls from fellow Democrats to end his 2024 candidacy.

Jill Biden and Hunter Biden serve as some of the president’s closest inner circle of confidants with a public focus shifting on them since his dismal debate performance last week. While the first lady is seen as the only person who could convince Biden to drop out of the race, the first son was also in a meeting with advisers to help with post-debate fallout. . . .

“He’s always leaned on Hunter because Hunter is politically and media savvy. Like Jill, he has the wisdom and experience of living through the last four decades in a front row seat to American politics,” said Michael LaRosa, first lady Jill Biden’s traveling press secretary during the 2020 campaign.

I never took Biden’s verbal stumbles seriously. I have seen them even when he was not eighty. He was a gaffe machine, he stutters and now he is old. So what I see with him is not new to me.

The right wing twitter feeds and conspiracy mongers try to amplify and over state what we see and they have a pattern. This was not the first time. Remember the same section talking about Hillary secret ailments and close to death illness when she seemed to have fainted due to pneumonia and exhaustion. It is something they do. So I don’t take that seriously as well.

The debate night was different. I saw and heard Biden 2 weeks before that and 12 hrs after that. That was the man I knew. May not be the best in articulation but perfectly capable of being coherent and conveying what he want to say. Even in the debate I can sense what he wanted to say but he was not able to say it. There could be several reasons. It definitely caused concern to me. I don’t believe all these nonsense tweets and trolls that are byproducts of ‘flooding the zone with BS’. But I am still cautiously concerned. If Biden is determined to run, I will consider him but I expect more transparency. It may not be bad idea to take a comprehensive cognitive assessment and put minds like mine to ease!!
It doesn’t bother me, if democrats change the candidate but as someone who has delivered a stable and successful legislative administration, he deserves a chance to make his case beyond debate night!!

I don’t think the debate was an unmitigated disaster but it was a disaster. Biden has always been gaffe prone and said stupid things. The debate though wasn’t just about gaffes or stuttering but that he looked lost and unfocused.

To put it simply he looked very old.

Also the response to the debate hasn’t been good by Biden and am don’t find his damage control helpful. Especially his comments to the governors that he needs to cut back on scheduling things after 8pm.

Biden though since the debate has been able to give speeches and the presidency isn’t one single person but is an administration and so far we’ve seen no revolt in the administration unlike the last president.

As I’ve said before the only one who can get Biden to step down is Biden. If the GOP candidate was someone like McCain, Romney, Christie or even Haley for me I would be changing my vote. As is I would vote for a toaster before I vote for Trump or for another candidate that might help Trump win.

CNN and Gupta have all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation

Dr. Sanjay Gupta: It’s time for President Biden to undergo detailed cognitive and neurological testing and share his results

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/05/health/gupta-biden-cognitive-testing-analysis

    excerpt:

For me as a brain specialist, it was concerning to watch President Joe Biden, and it quickly became clear that I was not alone in my reaction. Over the past week, I received more than a dozen calls, texts and emails from medical colleagues who, like me, specialize in the brain. It wasn’t that what we noticed was necessarily new but that it was particularly pronounced, and right from the start of the debate.

From a neurological standpoint, we were concerned with his confused rambling; sudden loss of concentration in the middle of a sentence; halting speech and absence of facial animation, resulting at times in a flat, open-mouthed expression. To be clear, these are only observations, not in any way diagnostic of something deeper, and none of these doctors wished to suggest that was the case.

The consensus from the doctors reaching out to me, however, was that the president should be encouraged to undergo detailed cognitive and movement disorder testing, and those results should be made available to the public.
