You know what Easy, I'm thinking something happened when Chairman Pryuen went on vacation. Chairman Pryuen would post a thread full of pictures and Yao worshippers found peace. I might be wrong, maybe government control is what is needed. the anarchy caused in his absence is like the fall of the Soviet Union, except these are all Yao fans. These breakaway republics have been in battle with Tmacistan. Tmacistan's army is full of point forwards, so this battle will be long and confusing. I must stop them before they reach Clutch City. Chairman Pryuen, I, as ambassador of the City of Clutch, wish you back.
tinman, you might have gotten something here. This is by far the most intelligent post from you in a long while. And I am not being sarcastic.
Yes, I was that guy and I was clearly foolish in that case. No excuses. I'm just pointing out that all people make mistakes, even the great tinman. I don't deny that you have been a Rockets fan for longer than most people at Clutchfans, including myself, and I imagine it is incredibly frustrating to see people that are unaware of the pre-Yao/pre-T-mac history of this organization. I just think that your valid frustration has boiled over to the point where you are insulting and alienating others. You fight for a noble cause but I also think you are defeating your purpose at times with the way you go about it. I moved to Houston from D.C. in 2002 and became a Rockets around that time. I grew up near Francis in Silver Spring and watched him play since his days at UMD so I was excited to see him with the Rockets. Fortunately, I am old enough and have followed the NBA for long enough to know not to disrespect the team's history. I also have family that has lived in Houston since the 80s, several who are bona fide Rockets fans. The truth is they talk about Hakeem, Maxwell, etc... with the same passion you do. They try not to insult others in the process though. My point is that it would be great to see you represent and educate others without resorting so often to a barrage of insults, even when others make ignorant comments and insult you or the history of this franchise. There are always going to be some newer fans that seem oblivious to the past. I just think you can accomplish your goals without being so offensive at times. Be a wise leader in your fight to protect this forum and Rockets history. Don't be a bully. I think you could get through to a lot more people that way.
The good Ron, the bad Ron, or both. From what I see, you are only being the bad Ron. Even Ron, himself, wouldn't approve of that.
Heypartner like tinman said if you are from the area i am sure he wouldnt mind meeting up to watch a game...just make sure if you want to talk rockets for the night you dont pick a sports bar where there area a bunch of girls...heyp gets distracted a bit too easily
No I think your being an idiot sometimes. I think you also forget how international clutchfans is. I've mentioned it before but I've never been able to see Hakeem much, or older Rocket games because I live in Australia. I'm 22 so when Hakeem was destroying the league I was 10. The only name that ever filtered back here was Michael Jordan and then Kobe Bryant for being a rapist. Seriously half the people here have never ever seen Rockets history because we can't. Reading it on an article is highly different from watching the game like you did. I think its unreasonable for you to think that all people who became Rocket fans since the Yao era (which are alot of them) should celebrate in a history that we've never seen or experienced before. I haven't even stepped foot into a arena with Rockets playing yet even though its my dream. You speak like as if half the fans who are T-mac/Yao fans immigrated from Orlando to the Houston and aren't real Houston fans just because they don't celebrate a player that the majority of people have never seen. Its hard, for them and I think bagging them because of it is ridiculous
That attitude is worse than moving to a foreign country and refusing to learn the language. Just spend an hour or so on youtube watching Dream videos. You'll be converted in no time.
No, its nothing to do with me not know his a good player. I know his a good player. But to be honest I'm completely oblivious to older players before my time. Ewing, Robinson, Hakeem, Stockton, Malone, Pippen, Kemp, Payton. I don't know how any of them play. I've only ever heard of them from shoes. And I'm not going to waste my limited download cap (yes this exists in Australia) on you tubing videos on Hakeem. I've seen them. It just doesn't inspire awe to me. The video quality is bad, the shots are all highlight reels. Its taken out of context and I can't speak of him in the same awe as you do. Its just not possible for me to worship him the same way you do. You've been there, you've felt the situation the elation. Me, never happened for me. You can't expect someone to be obsessed with Rocket lore just because they are Rocket fans. Its like saying you have a passion for guitar but you have to know all the best guitar players in the history of the guitar. People are entitled to be passionate about the current Rockets team without worshipping Hakeem and Clyde at the same time. The only image of Clyde i have are dunk comps, old you tube highlights and his shocking commentary. Hardly the best image to go worship on.
You're absolutely right. It'd be like expecting history majors to know who Napoleon was or something. Frankly, I don't even know why we bothered to retire all those jerseys.
I thought this thread was about tmac, no the rockets history. Dream was my idol, tmac kicks ass, yao rulz and get ready for the rockets to go to the finals this year! Boston aint got nothing on the rockets. its our turn and i hope to god the rockets somehow resign artest for the long term cuz i think multiple championships are in the making!!!!!!!!
So its 50% now clutchfans aka clutchcity.net who don't know about the history of the organization. damn. I wasn't alive when Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West ruled the Lakers, but somehow that knowledge came to me. I never saw Elvis, but yet I know his songs. I've never been to the great barrier reef, yet I know it has sharks. Maybe I just listen Everybody`s down on their knees Listen like thieves But who needs that When it`s all in your hands As your fellow country men sang Dream baby dream Of all that's come and going And you will find out In the end There really is There really is no difference
I thought you were going for some parallelism in this post. Did Wilt and the logo steal someone else's game?
You love putting words in people's mouth. I see you do all the time, so I'm not surpised you said this to me. I never said I hate the Houston Rockets championships, I didn't even mention anything about the Rockets Championships. Did I even mention Michael Jordan? This was my post Tell me where here I claimed I hate the Houston Rockets Championships, tell me where here I even mentioned Michael Jordan or the bulls. I love the Rockets and their history, if you assume that someone who supports their players in the Rockets is someone who isn't a rocket fan, so be it. I do not disrespect you, but your lack of respect for other people's opinion is pathetic. No offense tinman, but if you think those who are a fan of McGrady or Yao cannot be a Rocket Fan, then you aren't a Rocket fan because you disrespect the Rocket players and the Rocket fans. If I offended you because I'm a fan of the Rockets but haven't registered in 1999, fine I apologize. But you have no place to call others "Not a Rocket Fan". Although I haven't watched as much Hakeem games as you have, he is still my favourite center and Rocket player of all time. Now that I say this, are you going to say I'm not a fan of Hakeem because my account does not say 1999 on it?
I guess I'm not a Rockets fan since I didn't root for them during their championship years I even rooted(hopelessly) against them with Orlando in 95, though I never hated them, I spent most of my time hating the Bulls. Make matters worse I can't possibly be a Rockets fan because I started liking them somewhat when Yao was drafted and became a fan when.....yes, my favorite player T-Mac(has been since 99-00 in Toronto) was traded here
