most of them didnt... most stud guys in college have everything made for em in their classes with their "tutors" and "talks" with professors. Universities make sure that their athletes have their mind on the game.

Simply not true. Consider opportunity cost:

Could you have a equally good player for cheaper?
Could you have a much better player for the same price?

Being "overpaid" highly suggests that the answer is "Yes" for both questions.
