LOL, I saw that last night and I thought to myself "I'll bet some YOF starts a thread about this". Sure enough... Some of you guys act like Yao is a 5 year old little girl or something. He's a grown man. He's not going to start crying when his coach yells at him, unlike you guys...
This isn't T-Ball. Anyone who's played organized sports, HS and above, will attest that coaches do yell at players. I played football, basketball and tennis in HS. The tennis coach yelled the most.
This is his first loosing season with the Rockets right? With all the injuries we have had I think a 500 season would be justified. Not to mention the letdowns of transactions during the off season.
Quality Coaches don't need to yell at their charges. Emotional Coaches out of control are the ones doing the yelling, it's just the way they operate. I was the coach of many international athletes and never yelled at any of them. JVG is not as thorough as generally perceived , he neglects to give enough direction to the players and when things go wrong, instead of blaming himself he yells at his players. Rudy T was not one to yell at his players in public. It's a pitty he is past his prime!
Well, Korean, Japanese, and Russian coaches of their women teams used to slap player in their facces for bad plays, not just in practice, but during timeouts! I guess they don't do it often now, as least not in the public.
Can someone specifically describe what Yao did that cause JVG to exlode in his face? Just curious to see what it was... Anyway, I don't think its as bad as you guys making it out to be. I mean, c'mon...JVG always and I mean always had high praise for Yao since he joined this team. He said Yao is the best regular season center in the NBA didn't he? Yao is still yound and is goin through the learning process where T-Mac had already been here before. Trust me, its gonna work out for the better for Yao.
I don't know what a "loosing" season is, but Mr. Van Gundy has had plenty of time to get the Rockets out of the first round of the playoffs.
What has he done? What has he done? He brought a very pedestrian Knicks team to the Finals. Yeah, they were pretty good, but no way should they have been in the Finals. For god's sake, freakin' Latrell Sprewell was their best player. Don't sit there and tell me that's easy.
Regarding JVG pulling the stuff with Tmac. IF he did,he would be packing his bag to get out of Houston. Sign of a coward. He knows Yao wont retaliate so he yells at him.
T-Mac wouldn't "retaliate" either... Guys, we're talking about grown men here. These guys have been getting yelled at by coaches since they were kids. It's part of the game. Man, I'm glad we don't have a team full of weak little TITTY-BABIES like some people in this thread. Unbelievable.
Take that back, YOF's are volleyball warriors and badminton gladiators. Don't make them spike the birdie on you.
Then please do explain why he never tries this with Tmac. Please do enlighten us. I am not a YOF. I am not a TOF. I am a ROF. And I am definately not a JOF. The only reason I am commenting on this is because I think he is a coward.
You are continuing your red herring with your gripes with "YOFs" (to be perfectly clear, I have no problem with JVG yelling at Yao for his sub-par performance) but you are still sidestepping the question why JVG never/wouldn't throw tantrums at T-Mac, or any of his puppies for that matter.
