If the trade didn't happen, Rudy Gay would have been a younger Snyder under the direction of JVG.
Shane is really the player Rockets need nowadays.

battier was still a great move no question about it. now when you think about it we got another version of rudy gay and thats gerald green, and he won't even get a sniff on the court. ;) gay and head on the team? i'd rather have bj and head.

There is a reason JVG is commentating on games these days instead of coaching.

Hehe, exactly. I don't care about JVG's take. He doesn't like Rudy Gay, fine, Gay will be an all star liked by many.

After watching Thabo Sefoloshia I can see why JVG liked him.

That guy is for real. He has a good all around game and can defend. He might not be Shane Battier but he's definitely no Rudy Gay (defensively).

If we didn't get Shane Battier, I think Thabo Sefoloshia would have been a better pick than Rudy Gay.

I don't wanna sound smart-assey but don't you mean Gay FOR Battier, not the other way around?

It would have been awesome if we had Brandon Roy. I love Battier, but the thought of T-Mac, Yao, Roy, Scola, and Rafer (w BJax as his backup) makes me tremble with glee. Battier is pretty damn good, though. Love that guy.

    Dude,

I try to bite my lip when folks like you offer opinions, but if you have ever played organized basketball, are over the age of 18 and attend an educational institute above the high school level I would be surprised.

Why am I jumping your arse, you might ask? You have almost 1,300 posts in less than two months, few with substance and all without insight. Stick to fantasy basketball until you can understand how to put together the puzzle most folks refer to as a basketball team.

Yea, the suck it. Look at the team around him. You think they shouldnt be better? If he was a top 10 player, shouldnt they be in the top 8 in western conference?

There is no doubt Melo is a great scorer but he doesnt do anything else. For someone making max level dollar, I would expect more.

Dude, thats an unwarranted, ad-hominem style bashing right there.
He was just stating his opinion, nothing more, nothing less. He wasn't making any derogatory comments or attacking you or anybody.
Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you can go make a personal attack on him/her.

And btw, I completely agree with what he says-got a problem?
Also, have you ever played sports higher than on an amateur level? Do you happen to be between the ages of 18 and 40, and NOT playing professional sports?

The thread title is confusingly worded. I was thinking there was no way JVG said that he would trade Battier for Rudy Gay today. After a bit of reading the first post it was clear though.

So, regarding the actual post, it was a bad trade then and that has not changed. There is no denying Battier is a large part of the team, but we gave Memphis their best player for Battier. I would rather see their best player on our current team.

That's me though. If you disagree, that's fine, but that's what I believe.

I agree with him too. While Battier is a very solid player, I would take gay back in a second for him. What exactly did he say that was incorrect? He offered an opinion that most people share. Gay is going to be a star. Superstar may be strong but he certainly has the potential. He also can be a very good defender. Gay does everything better then Battier but play defense. This season, if we are saying we are going for a ring, battier is probably your answer. That being said, I would complain if we had Rudy either

Who do you think think the opposing team game plans for now? Consider that and his age and i think he has far exceded expectations (probably from even the Grizzlies).

The most interesting Gay comment in the interview was the comparison to former Clipper/Knick Charles Smith.

Anyone remember him from the 90s?
