Know you just get known by every NBA fan as having done something no other team has.

True, but winning a trophy engulfs the city and you get rings to commemorate it. Not only that, you will get a little more monetary winnings. Sorry JVG, I'm in total disagreement.

This is a rockets forum, ofcourse more people know the rockets team.

You should do the starting line up of our 22 winning streak and our second championship. (even though our second championship is longer ago, still more people would know that team).

From a non-fan of the team, 33+ wins is far more interesting. Everybody favors the Heat for winning the title this year, so in a way it would just be the expected outcome. But that doesn't mean we expected them to rip off a massive winning streak.

But the Winning streak wouldn't mean as much if they didn't win the Championship (actually they will be portrayed as chokers if they do not win the championship)

I think we are dealing with two different things: perception and reality.

The reality is, a long winning streak is a more difficult feat to achieve than a championship.

The perception is, if you don't win a championship, you are a failure. Like TheFreak pointed out, this perception is there only because fans are conditioned to believe that only championship matters in sports.

-championship is the more important, "bigger" accomplishment
-streak is the more "difficult", statistically improbable.

Winning a championship means winning 15 games in the playoffs where ever series you were at least above .500.

Winning a championship going 15-0 in the playoffs - that's remarkable.

But really, are you going to say the Spurs championship over the Knicks was more impressive than the Lakers winning 33 games in a row? No way.

Do you know how improbably hard it is to win 33 games, or 23 games, or even 20 games?

This heat team is so dominating - the league has not see a team like this. Not even the 72-10 Bulls could piece together this kind of a streak.

For real, this is something you'd expect from the league's early days. Not now.
