if you ever listen to any of his commentary when he does houston games he actually thinks very highly of the team. And much of his comments show the different things here and there he would emphasize if he was here

We need to figure out what were doing with this roster before hiring a coach

Does JVG's refusal to ever talk with teams about jobs where there is a coach in place also apply to interim coaches?

What makes you think that JVG is incapable of adjusting to a new age of basketball?? He is a lot more knowledgeable about the game than you, me or anybody on this board.

    Oh boy
Jeff van gundy had no idea what to do with the offense. This is what is insane about it all. That was why we wanted him gone and adleman in his place. I love JVG but the position needs to go to Thibs first. It is not like we just have problems on defence vut we have issues on both ends of the court. This sounds like another One dimmensional hire by Morey all over again. Getting a bunch of one dimmensional players and coaches.

defense is by far the #1 issue that is keeping this team from going to another level.

And then Adelman came in and the offensive difference was....nonexistent. Evne though he got way more talented players.

I would take him back and I wanted him gone when he was not renewed. He would be GREAT for this team though.

Don't you think if he wanted to coach, he would have gotten a job since 2007? He is the basketball Jon Gruden. Fans keep clamouring for them, but there is a reason they are in the broadcast booth.

jVg hasn't coached since 2007. The league has changed since then. He couldn't come up with a defensive plan in 2016 to stop the Warriors or the Spurs.

    someone has apparently?

doesn't matter if the league has changed. it's not like he's been away from the game. he's very much been involved in it throughout these years

I just don't want him as coach.

To me, he's the ex girlfriend that people just remember the good times(defense) but forget all the bad times(offense). You see this ex girlfriend all the time(ESPN) and you think the second time will work better due to different circumstances (different roster). Friends keep putting thoughts in your head (clutchfans thread), about what can be different the second time, but at the end of the day irreconcilable differences (Les, and maybe Morey) really make a reunion a bad idea.

at the end of the day its all about the players and how to get this team better on the basketball court. I wouldn't mind JVG coming in and giving this team a new lift as he is a very capable basketball mind.

    This.

Folks have fallen in love with JVG the TV guy and forgot about JVG the coach.

Gruden (and Cowher) comparison right on. Those guys aren't coming back. Luckily, they are slowly dying (by the year).

Selfishly, JVG belongs in the booth. Stay in the booth. :)

I'd LOVE to have JVG return... but Les wants to run... Les wants 'entertaining' and unless JVG is clinging to somebody's leg during a brawl... he ain't entertaining...
