in theory, i agree with everything you just said above. the problem as i see it is that we don't have anyone on our roster capable of fullcourt denial.
exactly! box/1 against nash, with our current personnel and with their current personnel, is asking for a steve nash layup drill. honestly, if i had to state a method of covering nash, i'd say to back off of him. make him a shooter, not a passer, not a penetrator. make him drain 20-25 footers until his arm falls off. dare, no, embarass him to shoot it.
bogans too slow of foot to keep up with nash in a inbound setting. head? quick enough, not strong or savvy enough. at least not yet.
Which begs the question why JVG loves Bowen that much. If playing hard gets you onto the nba floor, I might as well get on there. I bet I run faster than Bowen.
What happened to Gundy's argument that all it takes is heart, that all 12 guys on the roster are NBA players and should be ready to go every day???
I think we need to start looking for some Dogs to put on our team. I am not talking about foo foo dogs that give signs and run around giving brotherly hugs to each other but some fierce rotweilers! I want a guy that will throw their foot down on nash's foot or shove and do whatever it takes to hold that guy down. After some wear and tear the opponent should be too tired to move. If we can't out run them then break a couple lof their egs until they get to our speed. The spurs do it and sura sure as hell knew how to do it. We need a warrior out on the court that will hold his own and take his anger out on that opponent. We have the youthful boys now. We don't have the Men now.....
so great you had to say it again 7 minutes later? btw..verse damn glad to see you active again...this forum misses posts like yours.
I'm a little surprised that Nash has 25 pounds on Alston. It certainly doesn't look that way on the court. Anyway, Alston looks strong, and on paper, he should be really fast. He should be able to run for 40 minutes on offense and defense no problem and cause some full court problems. Alston 170 pounds 6'-2" 29 years old Nash 195 pounds 6'-3" 32 years old
We suffer from "we ain't got no draft picks" on the roster. The only way you get speedy players for decent money, for the most part, is to draft them. Then you get them for 3-4 years at a decent rate of pay. Unfortunately, this team seems to think Free Agents and trades are the secret. That has never worked, and it never will. A fast guy will always cost a bundle as an FA, because so many other teams want them. If we'd actually start keeping our picks, and doing trades for picks, we might actually have some speed on this team. Heck, we might even have some cap room@
