    a) It's nice that we can have an ignore list
    b) It's nice that we can quote other people's posts and comment on them
a)+b) It's not nice that the posts I am trying to ignore keep popping up right in front of my eyes because others are quoting them!

Luckily, there is always MacBeth. Ever since he shreds the length of his posts (usually well thought out but always takes an effort to finish reading) they are now such a joy to read! Thank you! Instant cure to my psyche after experiencing a)+b)!

I would have rather seen the Yao High Pick/Stevie for 3 play
    Rudy used.

You all know what play I'm talking about.

It seemed to work more times than not.

Not if he drove into the middle a bit, and caused JJ's man to help, or Francis create a screen for JJ and pass it to JJ for the open look.

15 seconds and one pick and no pass! That is the poster example of how this team lacks court insight sometimes! When one player dominates the ball at the top of the key for so much time, the chances of success are minimal. Whether it was JVG calling for this or not, the players have to adjust to what is thrown at them. You must read defenses and creat. This team does not do that well and has not for years.

The announcers for the SA game said it numerous times. At times this team works to perfection and at times it is a disaster with no sense of adjustment or direction on the court. This was an example. at the 7-9 second mark when it was clear SA was no biting on it, a pass should have been made to at least loosen the defense. Passes loosen the defense regardless of how tight they play. It forces the opposing team to move and thus creates potential gaps. Also, someone should have moved towards Steve to create another potential loosening.

Bottomline: Recognizing the Defense and knowing how to shake it and Movement is the key whether players or balls!!!! In the end, it was perfection defense with disaster adjustments by the Rockets. This is not to say that they would have been successful, but players and coaches are to blame for not giving 15 seconds a second chance.

I never argued with you about JVG going to the media on the SuperBowl Issue. I do have a problem with him saying his players didn't play with heart. But at least he has finally take some blame himself.

Apparenty not many people have heard of a dribble screen before...

Next time JVG should save a timeout to tell Francis that we are down three and need to get a good look.... also he could have told them to brush their teeth before they go to bed....

This quote from Steve reminds me of the dialogue between Socrates and the reciter Ion of Ephesus.

Could we change the thread title to: JVG: "I left Steve out there stranded on an island"

    That's the correct quote.

Well how do you expain Steve doing that constantly every other QT. Every scenerio, Steve holds onto the ball till the very last second then shoots up a prayer from 19. How about creating for one of his teamates or something? He's been very consistent I'll give you that. But the thing is, the results arent very positive.

how does a dialogue about poetic inspiration, and whether or not poets create solely through skill or divine inspiration relate to the quote. your reference is a bit obscure and a little elaboration might make your point clearer.

gunn, you made a reference which i was not familiar with so i looked it up. i read a summary and five or six pages of the dialogue to get the gist. i still don't see your point. i would wager that 99% of the posters don't either. don't be so pedantic.

It's funny because JJ took the same variety of a shot [fading, off-balance, on the 3 pt line] vs Chicago, but he made it and he's a hero. If he would have missed, no one would have said a thing. You may argue that atleast he didnt dribble all over the place. Well it's just that, on that last play [which was a set play more or less by the way], they did move the ball and it resulted in the same type of shot SF got.

You're talking about a last second desperation three here. You're not going to get a much better look than what we got. It's a classic case of SF trying to make a play, you can see he peeked in the lane and tried to take it to the basket, but he backed it up probably seeing the clock. I'm sorry you just dont drive halfway then back up in the manner he did unless he changed his mind. I seriously doubt he said to himself "I'm going to fake a drive then back it out." He was just lost on that play.

Even if SF goes for 2, and S.A. shoots free throws, youre still looking at having to sprint down the court trying to convert another basket but under more durress of the clock. There's no way youre going to get a set play in. In my opinion, SF made the right choice by going for the last shot on that possession -- and whether you like it or not, SF is more suited in shooting the last second shot, SF should always have the ball in hands for the last play. He's more suited in getting his own shot.

I didnt read this whole thread, so if any of the ideas are repeats sorry, I dont want to seem like im copying other people's opinions.
