    Yes, i agree.

VG knows how to deal with the media. Obviouly he's not going to embarassi steve more. SF did it enough already.

if Francis dropped it to JJ, he would be in the exactky the same position Francis was in.

K, he "bashed" them? JJ was open, JVG knows this, look at the tape. He just excused Francis, there was no bashing, it was a completely meaningless coachspeak statement.

Will you be a Rockets fan if they trade Steve?

A little context might be in order. This is the full context of the interview:

Q: So, has it been a rougher season than you expected?

    JVG: They're all rough.

Q: Have there been any special bumps in the road?

JVG: Well, obviously we've had problems with scoring, but I think we're headed in the right direction. I have some ideas...(laughs) fantasies maybe, about where we're headed, and it's gonna get better.

    Q: Care to share specifics?

    JVG: Sorry?

Q: About your basketball fantasies...about how the team will improve?

JVG: Oh. Well, I do have one reoccuring dream. The team and I are all in this boat, lost at sea...we're all trying to get to safety. but we're rowing in different directions. Steve in particular keeps trying to row us further out to sea. It's all very frustrating, but in the end, just before I wake up, it's always the same. We always come up with a solution, and get going in the right direction. So I have hope that the dream will come true, metaphorically.

Q: So what was the solution? In the dream? How did you get everyone rowing in the same direction?

JVG: Oh, it was pretty simple, really.
We left Steve out there stranded on an island.

Wrong, JJ was all set to catch and shoot. He would have had a jumper from a standing still position. He might even have a slight opening. A much better chance than Steve shooting a 3 off the dribble with a 6'-10 guy in his face.

you people are crazy. You come up with all these silly excuses.

"Van Gundy is trying to deflect some of the criticism off of Francis in order to keep his trade value as high as possible..."
    and
"It's ok for Jeff to make excuse for Steve 'cause Steve is like a baby that needs cuddling"

cant you just include another option:

"He said what he ment and there is no reading between the lines"!?!?!

Whats the use of post game interviews then if they are there to just "cuddle" steve francis or "keep his trade value as high as possible".

Alright, check out the picture above...Now, what do you think would have happened had Steve continued to take it hard to his left (around Horry) and towars Manu? Right, manu would have helped out, leaving Cat wide open for the game tying three. Of course no one is going to be open when you dribble around in circles without making any progress.

Please, JVG was trying to deflect criticism and we all know it, which is fine IMO.

Wow, if that is the full interview, context just changes a lot of things.

    1) Horry is 7" taller than Francis and right in his grille.

    2) Jackson is closer to the basket and taller than Ginobili who 6 feet away from him.

    3) Horry was quoted in the press that he played Francis for taking the 3 only and once Francis crossed the arc and went back he (Horry) knew he had him.

    4) I'd take Jackson over Ginobili any day if Francis over Horry was the other option.

Post Game interviews are for the media, they are just as meaningful as half time interviews, where coaches all say the same thing, and it means nothing.

I think JVG shouldn't take out Yao Ming.

Which is better than his dribbling the ball forever. A spot shot by JJ has much better chance to go in. SF dribbled the whole court, and exhausted himself, he wouldn't be able to make the shot even unguarded. Any smart or even average IQ PG would have passed the ball to JJ for a 3-point shot.

I am finding FOF's like you are most annoying because you have no respect to facts and will just say whatever or however it comes up to your mind.

Huh? Steve wasn't suspended for saying anything, he was suspended for his actions. Actions do speak louder than words, especially in professional athletics.

why are you starting to label me FOF. The WHOLE board is just constantly bashing steve. There is not even a single positive post these days even though the rockets are in decent playoff posistioning. There has to be someone who will support steve. Just go to the thread list. Then find one thread that does not say trade steve.

Some of you guys are so blind. You only want to see what you want to see. The fact is that JJ was not that open, sure in the one STILL picture it looks that way but he wasn't. Also, coach would not just say that to keep from pissing off Steve. If that were true he would have never mentioned the Super Bowl incedent. Plus coach just wouldn't do that. There was nothing else Steve could do. Try giving some credit to the Spurs' D.
