Respectfully. No, McHale was NOT Morey's choice... he was Alexander's choice. Adelman was let go because Alexander was not happy with where the team was, and Adelman wanted a long term contract with control over personnel decisions..... which is exactly what he got in Minnesota. Morey is blameless? Who said that? I believe I said Morey certainly isn't perfect..... but when it comes to hiring and firing head coaches; the decisions are and always have been made by Les Alexander.
McHale also has Alexander's hands all over him. During that process is when a lot of the reports about how Alexander likes to interact with the coaches began to coalesce. Doesn't fit the "It is all on Mauri" narrative, but we gotta at some point accept that our team is really Alexander's business.
You're right, there's no new evidence to say he is cheap And Les also agreed to pay Scola's amnestied contract. But something in my gut has made me change my mind on the man. It feels like an illogical move. But, you can also have it make sense that if the Rockets have been trying to recreate the D'Antoni offense mixed with Adelman influences, then instead of having Chris Finch try and decipher and melt the two methods together, just go for the inventor of it in D'Antoni. I didn't like the panic moves at this past trade deadline to try and get out of paying some tax, and it feels as though Les has not come through with the offer of paying the tax when it is needed. I think he pulled the plug on the season much too early, and it gave him an excuse to not keep a high payroll through the year. It's just speculation on my part, no evidence. But something is off about this situation. Morey definitely doesn't have the freedom wrt team/coach assembly that i thought he had.
Respectfully, Morey put McHale in front of Les as a candidate in the first place. I do think Les is the biggest problem but I also think Morey is not as good as many think. DD

Alexander needs to let Morey select the next coach period. GM & Coach have to work much more closely together than with the owner.
Like I say... We've got an owner who wants to play GM... a GM that wants to play coach... and a SG that thinks he's a pg... People need to stay in their lane already!
McHale also got this team to the WCF last season. This season was one and done but at least be honest. All you do is b**** man.
I know Le$ is not a good owner, but I don't know he is awful like this... Les doesn't know basketball at all.
Tell you the truth we may all be in for a shocker. When Pringles is hired the can easily give him a gm role or a player personnel position. Kind of like what they have tibs and svg. Then that other forum would be so true about his sources.
