Mark Jackson is a 10+ vet. The commisioner's office will pay part of his salary.... but I think it would still be count into the total team salary.

Point to the assists all you want, but Jackson led the league in turnovers per 48 minutes last season, not what I would call the perfect fit as a back up point guard. Plus, he's a horrible shooter and 38 years old, I'll pass.

I'm still hoping we can wrangle Avery Johnson.. is he the greatest
thing since sliced bread? no. But, he is a great guy, mature, and
knows how to play the pg well enough to both be a good backup
AND be a good teacher as well.

Can't necessarily say that about any of those other guys, maybe
    MJackson, dunno..

So, Avery's like the small pack of Charmin's TP, while Robinson is the big 32 roll pack of Charmins? :D

One thing I'm not clear on though: won't he still count for the full million in salary cap and luxury tax formulas?

with AJ's salary, who would Rox have to give up to get him? Come on, be realistic.

Unless AJ is cut, he is not a Rock.

I think the number Jackson would count against the luxury cap would be $688,000, and the league pays his salary above that.

    Wilks will cost half that.

If you know this then you obviously know the Top 10 was rounded out by Arenas, Kidd, Francis, Paul Pierce and Bonzi Wells. Not exactly players that stink up the courrt.

And you also know he was 3rd behind only Stockon and Jason Williams in assists per 48 min. And that Francis was 25th in assists/48 min. And that Jackson has played 3,738 career playoff minutes.

    no,
the post is just really bad, but the daily news is not far behind. the only credible ny paper is the times, really. the other two wanna sell papers as fast as possible and don't necessarily check all sources.

if it were true, espn would probably have said something about it. if jackson were available, at a price we could afford, i have no doubt the rox would have picked him up.

Knowing the New York newspapers Jeff Van Gundy was probably talking to some guy named Mark Jackson and he asked Van Gundy fro 50 cents to make a phone call and they ran with this.

The Post and News are tabs with interesting, shall we say, sports sections.

Mark Jax is looking for work. Rox looked for another 1, either passed on him or have not yet signed him. His price is league minimum (which, for his years of service, could support me just fine).

Please, no more "per 48 minutes" stat quotes. That's just unsound logic used to boost fantasy (what if?) statistics.

Didn't they change it to 50 cents for unlimited minutes or something like that?
