Could there be a worse coach/team idea in the world?

....oh and imagine JVG the first time Stephen Jackson would roll into practice late, reeking of booze and fresh off of a new arrest from the night before.

I'd say the Bulls 1st championship run vs the Pistons, and then heavily favored Lakers were series they weren't really expected to win. Although the Bulls did have a 61-21 record that season.

Everyone here knows I don't like the guy as a coach of the Houston Rockets, no secret there- no need to rehash old arguments.

I am happy he is back where he belongs, in the announcers booth, and NOT destroying my beloved franchise....

He would be a miserable choice for the Golden State Warriors, heck for that matter, I hope they hire him.

After a couple disappointing playoff losses, I don't blame the players for second guessing some coaching decisions. That's human nature. But if JVG was as bad as you portray him, we would have heard a lot worse from the players by now.

True dat. He was a better coach than Rudy was ( between 1998 - end of Rudy's departure )

I find all the JVG apologists nuts. So, if we are the nuts, who is the guy in the middle, and what does that make him?

LOL - I figured people would think that, and it clearly is a factor, but just one of many.

    Bonzi, Boki, Snyder, etc..etc..etc....

You guys can all love on JVG all you want, but I know the truth....you were cuckoled.

I really don't get the points. How could coach JVG be a chemistry destroyer? Both Yao/T-mac love him. The NY players loved him and he fought Alonzo for them. He gave season tickects to the fans. He got a big fine for Yao. He did everything to help the team win.

Last year Rockets just are not as good as Jazz and The fact that Yao was not healthy is not help either. I hope Yao will not be injury prone. Rockets only won Jazz marginally and Jazz blew out Rockets easily in last playoff series. when heads/juwan didn't score, when Yao shot 44%, JVG can do nothing. He is on top 5 coaches last season.

JVG relationship with the boss was broken. That's the only his problem. So he is gone. As simple as that.

Jeff Van Gundy will be remembered in Houston as the guy who hates beard.

While Billy Spanoullis will be remembered as the guy who gave the Rockets Scola.

ROFLMAO - yep, that is what you think.

I think he was a decent coach who is far too rigid, and lacks creativity, particularly on offense.

I believe that JVG will never win a championship as a head coach, anywhere....I firmly believe that.

I think there is a lot more going on with his ouster, than has been reported, I don't think the players liked him as much as many here think they did.

Do you think Bonzi liked him? What about Francis, or Mobley, or Billy, or Boki?

JVG has his detractors - and his supporters......I am just not one of the latter.

As for Yao and Tmac loving him.....they sure didn't put up much of a fight when he was fired. And Yao openly questioned his strategy, does that sound like a guy who wanted him back? Not to me it doesn't.

I am done with this, it does nobody any good, this thread is about Golden State....JVG would be a bad fit for their roster....IMHO.

Now I will go back to tap dancing on his coaching grave !!!

    :D

Yao doesn't love Jeff that's why he married someone else. :)

Seriously, I believe Jeff is the leading NBA coach in player/coach troubles or disagreements.

    care to list them out?

nevermind, not only do I know you cant, but you woudnt even if you could cause it would prove you wrong.

    DaDa

You keep on repeating it, maybe if you say it enough times it will come close to being true.

btw....I am pretty much in the middle, Im not particularly attached to any yankees, being a proper southern boy myself, but I have to admit I really dug having one of the top defenses in the league.

Ill give Adelman the same respect I gave VG, because I know they both know far more about basketball coaching than I ever will.

btw...the same applies for every last sunvagun on here...some more than others.

While I do respect your passion, I just dont think you know as much about the game as you think you do, or if you do, you are just as rigid in waht you think works as you accuse VG of being.

the problem is, his way seems to have worked more often than not

    can you say the same?

I don't believe his way worked at all, has the team gotten out of the first round? Did they win in the playoffs after being up 2-0 ?

I was ok with JVG's hiring for the Francis and Mobley team, but once they were traded, I thought he was the wrong man for the job.

You are right it is my opinion, and nothing more.

However, I can't help but look at the entire situation, and what everyone said and come to the conclusion that he alienated most of the front office, pissed off a good number of players, and basically pissed in his own bed.

And you are right, I am rigid about my beliefs, to a fault sometimes.

I am not satisfied with a team that won 52 games, and lost in the first round...I want this team to grow and to contend, and I have not seen any growth under JVG....he got marginally better results than Rudy's last year, and he had TMac.......that is not good enough.

The game is different now, where perimeter penetration is rewarded, JVG failed to take advantage of the new rules, and stubbornly sat glued to his rigid system. I watched him get out coached in 2 playoff series where the other team made adjusments and JVG did not counter, and it ultimately cost the team a legitimate chance to advance.

I don't HATE JVG the man, I hate JVG the coach of the Rockets......I think he is a destroyer, not a builder.....players will play for him for a time, IMHO, but will eventually grow weary of his BS.

And, I don't respect the way he uses the media to belittle his employees, that bugs me big time....as someone that has a lot of employees, I find that classless beyond belief.

As for my knowledge of the game, meh....I am just a fan like anyone else....I just have very high expectations, but at the end of the day we all see through our own beer goggles and have a style of ball we prefer to watch.

Adelman's style is much more to my liking....

    DD

PS. I just need to avoid these threads, and let all the apologists have their way...at the end of the day, my side won, he is long gone, and that is enough for me.
