    Thank god you are here to decide who is and who isn't qualified to comment on the team.

    :rolleyes:

    Funny how you feel the need to whine about the message board yet go out and whine about CD.....Pot....Kettle....Black.

    I am sure you never walk out of a movie and go...."dang that movie sucked"

    Because as a coach you surely could not grasp the opinion of the producer or director of the film, just leave it to the experts, right..

    WTF ever.

    And just for Sam -
    I guess this topic for me is just like watching you hammer away on V-Span relentlessly, and needlessly......everyone has their pet peeve I guess. Here is a suggestion for you though, stop clicking on the thread, you have the choice !!!

    To JVG's credit, he helds some playoff records:
    - the lowest scoring average in a playoff series;
    - only 4 starters scored in a playoff game;
    - the largest point lose in a playoff game 7;
    - the only coach lost 2 7-games playoff series in a row with 2-0 lead.

    :eek: :eek: :eek:

    sure JVG is a HOF nominee. :rolleyes:

    Gundy probably also holds the record of the largest drop in team defensive effectiveness/efficiency, or whatever NBA stats guys wanna use to measure team defense, when comparing regular season and playoff numbers. Basically it means that Gundy's "defensive prowess" is way over-rated.

    It's safe to say Gundy is a B-level coach in regular season, a C-level coach in playoffs, and a tier-3 coach overall. I couldn't care less if Gundy ruins another NBA franchise somewhere else, but Houston Rockets deserve better.

    Dada, why wreck your brain? We can rejoice in the fact that Van Stumpy is gone for ever. No matter how much is fanboys like denniscd cry, Dumpy is not coming back.

    A coach is suppose to make a team contend and Grumpy did not do that and now he is gone. Those are the facts. His lovers can cry all they want.

    I just hope he coaches another team soon so we can see how inept he actually is.

    I think Yao said it best:

    TITAN: You have become the target of Utah Jazz's offense throughout this series, and you have never managed to resolve it.

    Yao Ming: Well the game plan/set plays of Utah Jazz seemed to have owned us.

    TITAN: If you looked back on this whole playoff series, where do you think the Rockets lost this series ?

    Yao Ming: We lost on our offense. Our offense was too uni-dimensional. In most of our offense, our team relied on me or Tracy to play one-on-one and to attract double-team before we pass the ball. But in fact, we frequently could not connect with other team mates; this was particularly true when we dropped in our physical strength and efficiency. Carlos Boozer was the highest scorer on Utah Jazz. But he was actually not their focal point of offense. He is used as a decoy, always received passes in the elbow position, with his team mates cutting into the paint to seek scoring opportunities. At such time, I just could not be able to attend to one thing without losing track of another thing in the defense, (and therefore lost my target). We just did not have integrity in offense like the Utah Jazz.

    TITAN: Compared with Utah Jazz, what has gone wrong with your bench?

    Yao Ming: At the beginning of the season, everybody said we have a deep bench. But the further we played into the season, our bench had become thinner and thinner. Vassalis Spanoulis and Steve Novak were not given chance to play because they were rookies. Bonzi Wells was abandoned and I am certainly not at all surprised, because he and the head coach were having personality clashes. But later in the series, Kirk Snyder was also dropped, and this I just could not comprehend. Each NBA team needs to have an energy player, who just plays with energy and hustle once sent on court. We need such an energy player, playing against Utah Jazz. Moreover, (I think) this also conforms to the style of our head coach. Kirk Snyder is also very familiar with the (play style of) Utah Jazz. I just could not understand why he (Jeff Van Gundy) did not use Snyder. In this playoff series, if we have an energy player like Mike James, we definitely will have won the series. Well, in lieu of Mike James, if Kirk Snyder had played, we might have come up with better results.

    TITAN: These 2 things that you mentioned above are directly related to Jeff Van Gundy. Failing to get out of Round 1, Jeff Van Gundy will definitely have to leave.

    Yao Ming: This I knew too.
    But not touching on other things, for all these years, if not for Jeff's stern and harsh supervision, I would not have become what I am now. I know what big role he had been to me. I also beleive, even if he is to leave Houston, he will be able to find a new job elsewhere; or at most, he will take one year off to rest.

    Those stats are pointless. Future employers won't give a rats ass about those.

    Ruins another franchise? Lol. What exactly did he ruin? I don't think winning is ruining. C-level coach in the playoffs? Lol. You're an idiot. Look at his record. It speaks for itself. His playoff record alone puts him in the top 5 of current coaches with at least 50 playoff games under their belt, and he's had the ****tiest teams. Heck, not many coaches even coach 50 playoff games. That itself is quite an achievement.

    How did Gundy not get the ROckets to contend? You clearly didn't watch the ROckets the last 3 years and didn't hear what opposing players and coaches said about him. Why do you think he was offered a 3 year extension by Les? Les isn't that stupid.

    In response to the interview:

    THe Rockets didn't have the talent of bench of the Jazz. So we couldn't use Yao as a decoy. Tracy was used as a decoy a lot. But we had no other weapons. Remember 2 years ago. We had James and Sura to help on offense. Yao and Tracy were used as decoys, and our offense was smooth as ever. JVG just didn't have the personnel. THey should have made the trade for Mike James and Linas Kleiza.

    Or what a quality GM is, or does. Or what a team's internet message board is for....

    Yes, and THANK GOD....it won't be in Houston......because now, we can actually go out and compete with a capable team on BOTH sides of the ball.

    At least that is what the knowing are saying...we will let denniscd continue to talk for the unknowing.

    ;)

    I am sure that you both know better than Yao, who just basically said that JVG had to go......at least to the knowing among us.

    Carl, my friend.....you are correct. Unless called out....I will officially exit this thread.......

    I will still retain my He-man JVG haters club presidency, and come out, when necessary to smite the blind JVG jock-sniffers of their robotic mind controlled thoughts about JVG and his failed tenure as a head coach of my beloved Rockets.

    :)

    All kidding aside, it is all a matter of opinion anyway, we (the knowing) just happen to agree with Yao.

    ZING !!!

    The King is dead(JVG)....long live the King (Adelman) !!!

    Enough is enough. I'm going to leave it at this. As I've been saying all along. The success of the team this season will be based on the upgrades we accomplished personnel-wise. JVG didn't have the personnel. Adelman does. THey're both fine coaches. It's all on the players now. I don't care what Adelman does. I'll never blame him for anything. HIs record speaks for itself. It's on the players. I'm still very critical of TMac, and I'd like to shoulder the blame on him for our shortcomings, but I know that's not fair. I'd still take Kobe or Wade or Lebron over him any day of the week. I might even take Pierce over him too, maybe even Ray Allen or Rashard with a stronger supporting cast than what we had last year. So I'll end it at that. Just wait and see how JVG does as coach wherever he ends up, be it Warriors, Knicks, Magic, Celtics, Comets, or Rice Owls. THen we'll know how great or sucky he is. But for now, I can't be any more happy with the team we have, Don Nelson is back with the Warriors, so thread closed.
