None of those teams had 3 elite players in their prime. Kobe once quit on the Lakers against the Suns in the playoffs and look at him now. If Lebron can play more like a Magic Johnson type role instead of MJ, this can work well. Lebron has the tools to be that guy.

c'mon, this case is different. these guys have been talking about playing together... it was their idea first, then Riley believed it and supported it and found a way to make it happen.

these alpha males have brains too.

I'll wait until the NBA season, for most teams, is about 10 games in.

If the Heat can go 9-1, or even 8-2, that is scary.

I believe this too. On paper, they look good except for at PG where they are untalented and at the SG backup where they have next to nothing to backup Wade. They are one injury to Lebron or Wade from being a sub 50 win team IMO.

Even if they have perfect health and get more out of their back court than I suspect I still think something will derail them. I think karma has a way of screwing people who take the easy way out.

Honestly, I don't really care about the Heat until they play the Rockets.

I feel that Chris Bosh is their weakest link. If you can keep him from being effective then you have a good chance at beating the Heat. All you have to do is get physical and dirty in the paint and beat them on the boards. I say let LeBron and Wade get their points but make sure everyone else isn't contributing. Pretty much how Dallas was able to beat us in the playoffs a few years back. Miami is beatable guys, it's just going to take a full effort from everyone else on the other team.

if this team fails then it has nothing to do with ego or relationship problem between wade and james. otherwise if lbj was really for being "the man", he will not leave Cleveland or he would have signed with Bulls.

You guys can't be that nieve lmao. He CLEARLY doesn't believe any of this nonsense. What he's doing is putting unreasonable expectations on Miami adding to the already enormous amount of pressure they have on them. Its mental warfare at it's finest. He's actually helping teams like Orlando out

Their issues had nothing to do with chemistry. Kobe, Shaq, Payton and Malone did work. They got to the finals and it wasn't for Malone's injury they would have had a champions. Hakeem, Barkley and Drexler worked also. The problem again was because of Barkley's injury and age.

Injury is the only thing that can prevent these guys from winning it all.

Kobe, Shaq, Karl, and GP played together for 1 year and went to the finals with the best record...and Karl was injured. I'm glad they did not win a championship...and GP and Karl were pretty damn old by then.

JVG certainty of record breaking success is just as ridiculous as DD's certainty of every opinion he has. It's just all silly.

I do think this Heat team will be damn good though, and I do test my opinions with annual season over/under wins bets in Vegas. I'm thinking 66 wins right now. The schedule isn't out yet, so I can adjust it later.

Two Alpha males on the same team never work. True.

Garnett, Allen, and Pierce worked. But all three had to take a backseat to each other.

The same will have to happen here. James or Wade. Whose going to control the team?

Realistically, I don't see them beating the Lakers at all. Put Ron Ron on Lebron and throw Kobe on Wade with Matt Barnes on Bosh. Miami will play absolutely no defense. Most overrated team in NBA history

You're like a broken record. How many times are you going to ignore the fact those teams' stars were past their primes (some of them way past it) with the exception of Shaq and Kobe? Until you acknowledge that, your point is complete BS. Wanting this team to fail is cool, hell that's your right as a fan to wish they crash and burn, but making ridiculous analogies while ignoring a huge factor like...uh, age (you know, one of the most important factors for an athlete?) is frustrating to read.

i agree completely with DD, if only lebron, wade, and bosh had played together before on some kind of super team, shared the ball, and won some kind of championship, then maybe, just maybe, i'd believe they could work out...but c'mon, that has never happened !!!!

Like when JVG predicted in 2009 that the Rockets would be the only team in the playoffs to challenge the Lakers?

Let the games begin. I don't think the Heat will challenge the 72 wins record set by the Bulls and I am looking forward to seeing this team play though to see all the hype go down in flames. "Will not lose two games in a row all season", what is JVG smoking these days(skunk weed) because his prediction stinks.
