TheMacster, the Heat have two of the most dominant wing defenders in the game. They also are pretty good D at the 4 with Bosh/Haslem. In fact both Cleveland and the Heat--who most the new players are from-- were among the leaders in most defensive metrics (oFG, oPPS, rebounds), and a Riley lead club will certainly emphasize defense. They did when they won the title in 05 with a less athletic overall bunch.

They will be one of the best defensive teams in the league--and very much could follow the model of the early 90s Bulls or Sonics in that they are terrific defensively because of athleticism and versality in the 1-4 spots, even without the traditional center that anchors most great defenses. (Though Anthony has more potential to be that guy than Longley or Cartwright, and Z is quite comparable to the latter two). Depending on what they get from Chalmers and Anthony, they could be anywhere from say top 5 (with Boston, Orlando, Lakers probably in the mix) to a solid #1.

I don't get it. That sounds like the description of what both Wade and James will do: play on or off the ball, and score or create opportunities for teammates.

Did you think Wade was just going to turn into a spot-up jump shooter now or something?
