you know how we type lol all the time but we don't REALLY laugh out loud? I Literally laughed out loud, heartily, with several nasal snorts when I read this. If I was 17 I would type: OMFG dat sh337 werz 4unny az h377!
What kind of BS motivation is this. He's been doing this for a long time but I have to question him about this statement. Don't want JVG to visit me when I am on my deathbed, he would probably tell me "Man, get ready. You are going to die."
Chance, Does it cost to get Houston Chronicle Writers on 610? Cause if that’s the case you could save a few bucks….
AWESOME The JVG interview is online. Maybe we should start a new thread. http://sportsradio610.com/goout.asp?u=http://images.radcity.net/5492/971785.mp3
If you were diagnosed with cancer, JVG would say to you, "Right now, you're not ready to beat cancer. You need to cut out all distractions and focus on getting strong enough to go through chemo in one piece, because you've got a long road ahead of you. You've had some bad luck, but you can't use that as an excuse because you've got more than enough tools to get through this." I guess some fans and players would rather have the coach dish out encouraging sound bites, but some also prefer a coach who is honest with his answers and is always 100% prepared for the worst. You can't just ignore the portion of the interview where JVG says that the team will be using these final games to kick it into playoff gear. Do you think that the Rockets shouldn't strive to raise their game before the postseason starts? JVG also repeatedly mentioned things that he liked about the team during the interview and praised TMac in particular. It was clear he was happy with last night's victory. That doesn't mean he wants his team to coast into the playoffs. He wants them to storm in with momentum. By that criteria, the team is NOT ready to win in the playoffs, and I doubt you'll be hearing any of the Rockets say differently.
The best thing The Sports 'Mule can do for 'you' is make 610 better. 610 coasted so long without competition that it was insipidly poor. IMHO 610 has stepped up a notch since 790 went on the air, and this is for the betterment of the listeners -- and the professionals in the affected stations. Keep improving your product and force 'them' to do the same or become Left Talk Radio promoting Hillary's campaign.
It does on some and not on the others. the problem with getting beat guys on...for any sport...is that radio forces the on air talent to be opinionated, pick sides, and rip an individual when it needs to happen. For instance, the other day Lance was ripping into Padgett because he was so cold. A beat writer can't do that because he has to have a daily relationship with these athletes. so what you are often left with is not too compelling.
Hey Chance, why don't they post more interview audio clips on the website like they did with this morning's JVG interview?
wow your member number is big. we pick and choose what goes in the vault. with some stuff around the corner the whole argument should be moot. Also, we are doing a site redesign. When it's done we will be tending to all of the features a lot better. is "Mac" fan for McGrady or McClain?
I would definitely rather listen to John & Lance (or even just Lance doing Purina One or Summit Fence babble) than listen to the Golf show. I've tried to listen to it, but it's dead dull. While on the subject of 610, I have to say the station has done a much better job of covering the Rockets this season (and the Astros so far) than in previous seasons when it was all-Texans radio.
Yep, I agree completely. The only worse thing to hear then "up next, the golf hour" is "up next, John McClain for a whole hour." That guy makes Van Chancellor sound like William F. Buckley. Totally unlistenable. I was happy to tune in this afternoon and hear Matt Bullard, but even when Bull was on they were still talking about the Astros some! November-December is the best time for sports talk radio in my opinion, because baseball is over, the NBA is starting up, and college and pro football are both in full swing.
Brain type? Lol, please explain. In my time in psychology I have never come across such a concept. I hate when random terms get thrown out into the mainstream with little or laughable theoreical background.
Some concepts are not mainstream psychology. It doesn't mean that they are not valid. Some teams (see Danny Ainge) look into this thing called "Braintyping". Ainge used this theory during the 97 Draft. He didn't have a chance to draft T-Mac, but Ainge was convinced that T-mac had the mental pedigree to be a great player. And the guys drafted in front of him, were mainly busts. According to braintyping they were not going to succeed (I am not sure of the exact players) and a couple of them did not.
