"Fragile" is not a usual word for describing a basketball team. The reporter much have mentioned that to him for him to give that answer.

maybe the reporter just asked him if he thought the team's was fragile without mentioning that JVG was the one that said it? i don't think anyone would contradict what their boss just said a few moments ago so openly to the media... but perhaps we'll never know (unless more evidence comes up) - maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt? but i do agree that if francis knew what jvg said, then came out and disputed what was said.. then it was a pretty dumb thing to do.

I just hope it gets better soon else we will see an all out war with Mr. SF. He is in a no win situation and his pg skills were questioned long before JVG got here. Something must be wrong if you are told to do what you do without less dribbling. Isn't that a nice way of telling SF he is wasting too much time. The other day he was told he is playing like a fool and would be benched soon. JVG will be good for him.

What is he supposed to say? "Yeah, I agree, we're pretty damn fragile..."

*lol* Once again we have people trying to play psychologist over the 'net. So basically by not thinking his team is "in the lower echelon of the NBA" Steve was being defiant with what JVG said? How dare that Francis! Damn him for saying the team needed to focus better on defense and think they needed to make shots they had been making earlier in the season.

Would you would-be psychologist PLEASE stop taking quotes from what players say and reading more into it that's really there?

The Freak is right here. I shouldn't expect the leader of the team to say he and his guys are fragile. I mean would never do that. and neither would most of us here. thanks for bringing some common sense into my life, The Freak.

No kidding. The guy just played 40 some-odd minutes getting banged all over the place and then he's asked if he thinks he's fragile? Uh... yes, Mr. Reporter. I feel very fragile when I lay it up over two guys, get slapped to the floor and then make a free throw.

It's clear that Francis and Van Gundy were referring to different contexts. Some folks will simply do everything in their power to believe that Francis and Van Gundy are diatmetrically opposed and that Steve will be traded. News Flash: Steve Francis will never be traded by the Rockets. Ever.

Come on, home skillet. I have passion for my team, just not irrational passion. I don't feel that acting irrational because of a pointless topic makes any sense. I think it's a "dumb ass" thing to do. People that do things like this are hard to deal with in any facet of life. Who wants to be around someone that becomes a manic over any silly little thing? I don't. I'm sitting here acting irrational myself, I know, but that's simply the best way to grab the attention of irrational people. Now that I apparently have it, I would like to say: Quit. Life is more than just a series of moments. If all life consisted of was one moment, then yes, go overboard. But since life is much longer than a moment (no, that's not a guarantee, just the probability), when you go overboard because of silly little things you are damaging your outlook on subsequent things, regardless of their importance. Negativity breeds negativity. Idiocrasy yields more of itself. Overreacting just fuels more overreacting on your part and that of others. So yes, please quit.

BTW, I am indeed Steve Francis; and I am not happy with you people here. I wish that you would see that it is your fault as a fan that we lost and proceed to correct that issue. Either that, or realize that it's not; there's nothing you can do about anything; and it's all up to people like me who are tired of all your BS.

Sorry Steve. Criticism is hard pill. You don't want to hear it. We understand.

It's up to you to play it out on the court, what we do or say on this board has nothing to improve the team on the court. But this is what we fans do, as pathetic or irrational as we are, we still cheer for the team, we also like to dish out our ideas of what is going right, what is going wrong about the team. Especially when you said something to the public, on the newspaper, we sometimes would like to discuss players mentality among us. You don't really need to hear us pathetic pans. Do what your coach told you, stay out of the fans site.

We realize that there's nothing we can do to improve the play on the court, or to make you make less mistakes on the court. Don't get me wrong, we know that. But we also know its our right to vent our thoughts on players or plays. We also understand you always want to look at the bigger picture, let the small things: Like some costly small mistakes in fast breaks go, even though they are quite repetitive. We meanwhile, would also grab the life by the horn, strive for better things for every moment.

Sorry to make you upset, hope you can play better, smarter next time. We can't help much, some of us have already quit going to the games. But just to let you know, stay out of our BBS business, focus on your thing on the court. It would be the best for both of us.

    Sincerely,

    Michecon

NOt only that, but I heard that Jeff said that Steve was "trying to hit a home run, purple monkey bicycle" and then Steve said, "F-that Van Gundy, especially for that Purple Monkey Bicycle BS!!!!"

Why do you feel the need to create controversy where there is none?

Again, I asked you, and the Freak asked you, do you want Francis to say: "Yeah, we're a pansy ass lower echelon team, more fragile than your grandma's crystal?"

Thank goodness Steve didn't agree with JVG about the team being "fragile". If Steve's confidence was low enough to actually admit to being "fragile", the Rockets might as well throw in the towel.

It's like being a cornerback in football. Even though you got burned on the last play, you have to believe you'll make the next play, or you'll fail for sure.

fanatic - A person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause. Pertaining to, or indicating, fanaticism; extravagant in opinions; ultra; unreasonable; excessively enthusiastic, especially on religious subjects; as, fanatic zeal; fanatic notions;irrational, stoopid people; dumbasses included; Includes r****ded; Homeskillets, tools, idiots, uneducated inferior people.

Maybe you shouldn't be calling yourself a true 'fan' because you are too smart for the rest of us?

4 whole years full of excuses and I'm tired of it all. From injuries, to inexperience, to 'they got lucky', to 'we just have bad luck today', to this and that...I'm just sick and tired of it all. There has been no accountability the last 4 years. Time for our leaders to put up or shut up.

I will not stoop to your level to call you any names. Please get the hell out of here and go root for the Comets or something, puss. Go back to Dallas or wherever the hell you came from.

Thanks and you have a pleasant day puss :)

You know, I'm terribly sorry for bringing this thread back up when I wish it were a dead topic, but screw this bullcrap. I don't appreciate things like that ChenZen. I don't know where you've come off taking such direct offense to my statements, because none of them were directed at you. And there's a difference between fan and fanatic. The words have evolved to mean 2 different things. But even still yet, the definition I've found for "fanatic" was: An ardent devotee; an enthusiast. That's a little more suitable for myself. I'll use that one instead of yours.

But HELL NO I'm not from Dallas. That's my name. I'm from Houston. Just like the team I am an ardent devotee of. But I don't want to sit here and defend my fan-hood to somebody that apparently has read none of my previous posts and knows nothing about me in reality. I guess the only thing I can say is that, while our opinions might be a little different, we both are supporters of our team. We may show our support in different ways, but we support nonetheless. I know where you're coming from with the 4-year letdown thing, but I'm personally just waiting for the 4 years that this team brings me titles.

I'll call for a truce, if I can. We're both big-time fans of the same team and we're on a message board for it; so I know we can find some common ground.

And re-reading my posts, I think I was a little too abrasive myself. I wasn't trying to call you names, although I may have made it sound like I was. I was just venting in general and I apologize for angering you.

I aplogize for not thinking before posting sometimes and I crossed the line with silly personal attacks. I'll try not to be too defensive next time and overract.

"Don't be hate'n", B-Rad (Malibu's Most Wanted). With Dallas and Utah fans/players being exceptions. God I hate Dallas fans more than Jazz fans in the Malone years now...

When the Rockets are under pressure they do tend to panic and make a lot of mistakes which takes them out of the game like against the Grizzlies.
They must overcome these tendencies otherwise they won't be able to win. I think the team is emotionally fragile but better execution on offense and defense can get them out of trouble.

I think Jeff Van Gundy has a very good read on this team. He knows what it takes to be a winner and he also knows he doesn't currently see those things with this Rockets bunch.
