JVG's advice to all late 1st round picks or 2nd round picks: "Stick your ass on the bench and be a good cheerleader.".
He is right about their bench, just not his. At the end of the day, JVG did what he thought was right to get his team a championship. However, someone in management should have been taking a realistic/longer view. Same as this year, Yao is out, so I am glad that Landry, Brooks and Scola are getting valuable time to learn what the NBA playoffs are all about. That way the team is stronger next year when they have a more legitimate chance. DD
Man, I start to love JVG for his honesty. I would love to have his honest opinions on Mike Harris, Steve Novak, Luther Head, Chuck Hayes and Aaron Brooks, etc.
Play Brooks, Landry and Scola, I don't believe what you quoted mentioned Novak....but don't pack it in, just try something different...because the other way certainly isn't working, and with no Yao, the team really doesn't have much of a chance. Find out if the players on the bench are part of the future, or not, before you go into the offseason to retool for a run next year. DD
I think he would certainly have played Scola, not sure about Landry.....perhaps..... And Brooks would not have even been drafted.... DD
Adelman has been playing Scola and Landry for 3 months - you are telling me that you started your thread in order to inform us that, since the Rockets were down 0-2 and without hope, Adelman should change things up, and start playing Scola and Landry, like he had already been doing? FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL
I believe Brooks was the main thrust of that thread, which is weird becaue you didn't even mention him in the above post. Oh, I know why, because you didn't want to deal in the truth, just wanted to argue... DD
Of course I didn't mention him in the above post - the above post was in reference to your fig-leaf defense with respect to Scola and Landry. Your earlier thread was about Brooks and Novak.
Kelenna was a money/numbers game much like Mike Harris this season. At least that was my take on it. Think about who we kept above him. Scott Padgett, Jon Lucas.. etc. I am just sad that we couldn't pick him back up.
They totally undercut him for last season, I was telling people at a GS message board they got him for a song... but I thought it was a two year deal. Guess not. I'd love Kelenna back on the Rockets roster, but then I am biased cause I watched him for three years at UK. Edit: now that I look at that link... I wonder how much they are going to have to pay to keep Monta Ellis?? Think he will go for a max contract? Edit 2: all that info might not be accurate. I was just looking at the details on the Rockets and some of them are wrong.
