This is why JVG is my top choice for the coach of this team. No more sycophantic pandering to Dwight. Perform or GTFO.

It's funny how it's the EXACT same story now.

    Good kick for this thread.

My damn, JVG let Dwight have it, but in true Van Gundy style, he addressed all of the fair criticisms of Dwight with facts, logic and from a perspective of experience.

I have been supportive of Dwight since he's been here, and I think he's still a pretty damn good player. He's a great guy off of the court with his foundations, too.

But, this clip is a few years old, and it echoes the ghosts of Dwight's past, and now, the current legacy that he's attempting to create. As much as I support D12, it looks more and more like his personality is a work in progress. We're all like that, as people, but at some point, you have to work out some of your quirks. In the NBA, by the time you have a couple years in, your approach to the game shouldn't be a guessing game for your organization. More importantly though, in terms of his demeanor when compared to time on the court versus off, Dwight doesn't seem to quite know who he is from game to game, or as interviews have shown, from day to day.

I've heard mixed things about Dwight in relation to his identity in the locker room, and something has changed this year. I'm appreciative of what he's done for Houston as a player and as a resident, but I question whether it's within everyone's best interest for him to be here much longer. From the beginning to the end of this season, it seems as though Dwight has slowly been turning over a new leaf. The team issues are significant, deep in their origin and conviction, and as we've unfortunately witnessed, very conflicted with expectations of maturity and willingness to be professional. Cliques are damning. Egos have to be tamed at some point. Common goals have to be cohesive and explicit.

This video of JVG just highlights the transition of Dwight from one chapter of his legacy into the next.

Dwight will show you what he wants you to see about "D12", but I don't know if any team will EVER truly know who "Dwight Howard" is.

In the least, I hope we get to see an inspired "D12" in however many games the Rockets have left this season. Purely as a fan, I hope "D12" and the rest of our guys leave everything on the floor and recognize what could have been. What could have been...

How awesome would it be if JVG becomes the coach of the Lakers and Dwight Howard comes back ;)
