    Ok I gotta go.
    Here is the last part=...
Caller: Hey Coach. I have 3 small points. 1) I think the caller earlier was talking about how T-Mac is being doubled because Yao isn’t taking the pressure off. 2) with Ward and Lue banged up I think Sura needs to be more aggressive he passed up some good looks. 3) It seems like everyone that comes off the bench is just more aggressive.

JVG:As far as T-Mac I think all great players have to work through being doubled, cut, get to the FT line and get 2nd shots. There is more you can do than wait and pass out of the double. One thing T-mac has done is be very unselfish and want to get players involved. SO I don’t think Yao has anything to do with Tracys play.
As far as Sura I think he improved his shot. With the Pistons he didn’t get to play that much, as he did with Atlanta. Lue is going on the IR today so Sura will have a chance to fill his roll. As far as the bench play we were 2-13 from the bench last night and that wont get it done.

Rich: Where is Sura on his recovery?

JVG: Our staff did a great job with him. He was supposed to be out until Mid Dec. This is his training camp right now. It is unfair to want him to make a huge impact right away.

Rich: Those same strength coaches you mentioned worked with Yao in the off season. We see a lot of people reach in and try to grab the ball from him. DO you plan for him to threaten opponents more when this happens.

JVG: I think Yaos #1 issue in the low post is balance. Men of his size have different balance issues. His weight is on his heels far to often. I just want him to be poised, locate defense, and make a powerful move. But your right when the ball dropps it is inviting to a much smaller defender.

Caller: Im JVG lover. SF was quick, but Mo has never been a good rebounder. Where is Keon Clark? I don’t see him in the league.

JVG: Last year he was hurt all year. I talked to him on the phone a couple of times. He could never confirm, a meeting, and he never made a call back to me. Im not sure where he stands, but he defiantely hasn’t hooked up with anyone.

Caller: I hate to be critical but there are definitely some deficiencies with the fast break. You were 14th in the league in defen=sive rebounding. Last in Offensive. There is no one in position for Offensive rebounding because they are on the perimeter. Is the offense set with everyone on the peremiter by design?

JVG: The major thought by many is transition offense. Last year the Pistons won the Championship avg. 80pts. We would like to run well and efficiently. The teams that run well defend and rebound extremely well. And those teams have running big men. Phoniex is the best running team with Nash and the tandem of Amare and Marion.
The peremeter offense would not be by design.

I think Sura, Nachbar, and Juwan can run.
And Tmac will have to use some effort and run with them.
And I think Yao is pretty good transition offense as long as they play smart and smoothly..chemistry..and he doesn't get tired

Either Reece or Bowen...Bowen's injury seemed kinda fishy to me. We'll see who's further in the doghouse.

i think this is more a psychological ploy to get the guys rallying around the self sacrificing coach --who at the same time deflects media critisicm by saying "im to blame for the EFFORT (wink wink nudge nudge- theyre not playing hard enough ya know)

ps.. why no hard questions like "you think the players are getting discouraged by the lack of easy scoring and the complexity and slow speed of the offense? even games we should win easily look like a fight to the finish..." and "why do you think players have stated they feel so out of rhythm on offense" ... oh well

I don't get the answer to the "Yao on the 3-pt line" question. That's exposing him horribly and giving the opposing offense, as long as they're patient, all the opportunity they do whatever they want on offense.

JVG's response was... "he has to help out his teammates"? Huh?! What the heck does that mean. He's not *helping* his teammates. Let the opposing guards take long jumpers if they want... do *something* that protects Yao and keeps him in the middle of the alne.

Lue has torn cartilage in his knee. He played with a lot of pain last night so I'd cut him some slack. Old man Ward was hurt as well and this should tell you all you need to know about whether or not Reece Gaines can play the point.

Sounds like Houston fans are really giving it to JVG, he deserves every single bit of it.

That's what I am wondering. It kinda seems like he just saying those thing because its the "right" things to say. Saying anything else would just get him flamed even more.

I doubt it. JVG tells it like it is; always been his strongest suite, good or bad :)

I'm as frustrated as any other fan but i'm not ready to axe the guy. I still believe he deserves more time. We've got a light schedule in December; at least give him the month.

Someone call in and tell him that the way the Pistons won by averaging 80 pts will not work with the touch rules being enforced this year.

There is a premium on the drive and dish.

Of course, he should have figured this out, or he could just read the BBS.

he talked about the pistons and how they won avg. 90 points a game last year. It was during a fast break question.

Thats what Im afraid of, he will get off the hook by stringing together some easy wins, by beating easy teams at home.

Cutting JVG cant be the only solution.
The rebounding and turnovers have been horrendous.
I dont know if a new coach can change that.
I think a Big Man is needed.
    But Who?

I don't think a new coach is going to make a damn bit of difference until the personnel is addressed. I'm open to all ideas; there have been some good ones thrown out there, but at this point i just don't know...

I'm afraid of that as well. JVG shouldn't be let off the hook because of a string of easy wins.

The rest of the season won't be filled with easy teams.

I agree we need personnel change as well. But I think a coaching change would make a big difference with this team. Look at it as a Garner-Astros type deal, it may not because of a change of system, but a change of attitude.

It would make a big difference if Yao/TMac got the greenlight to "play ball." If they would be able to play together without the scrutiny of JVG.
