All that leader or not leader crap is useless if you don't win. And let me remind you we had 50 wins in Western conf. with Yao and Tmac out for extensive period of time. A coach's job is to win, it doesn't matter how he does it, with defense or offensive. JVG showed us that he can win games... so what is this crap about 0 creativity and not being a leader.
Alexander is a hardcore cheapass. He doesn't appreciate JVG wasting his $2.5 million on Bonzi's salary. lol
this leader crap is just that.... the NBA is professionals, not college amateurs. you dont need to give those stupid motivational speeches and scream in the lockerroom. these guys are pros who know what their job is. they respect JVG cause he respects them.
Speaking of, was he not wearing a *pink* shirt at the Monday game rather than red, as specifically rather than the red shirt that he supplied everyone in the lower bowl. Les needs to buy a RED shirt.
On point and clean? Seriously? You're real stupid, dude. I'm sorry bud, I can't help it. You agree that JVG is a bad coach, that Yao and TMAC are not leaders.....i mean you can't even apperciate this team and the playoffs yet you cream in your pants over another player on another team and say 'omg, we have to have Matt Barnes next year!" I mean what the hell dude? Really man. Make it stop now. While you can. So you can enjoy the playoffs, a little bit at least. Or else you're gonna turn out like oldmanrock and edc and watch Rockets games in self-inflicted misery.
I think JVG is a great coach and that he should get an extension. If he doesn't want to stay or if Les doesn't want him, I vote for Mario Elie, Rudy T, John Lucas or Dell Harris.
If you think a leader needs to be charismatic and inspirational, then see, thats where your problem is. A true leader leads by example, and is not making a conscious effort to be a leader by making himself charismatic and inspirational. i mean if you are a woman and you have this desire to follow and be lead, then yeah, charismatic and inspirational is for you. and about the offense not being creative. you have no idea what you are talking about. you are not watching the ****ing game dude! you're watching but you're not watching. youre just watching the ******* ball, if youe just watching the goshdurn ball you dont see all that is going on. there is a lot, i mean a lot of movement and creativity in the offense. every good shot taken, there was a lot going on to get that shot. You are not watching dude, YOU ARE NOT WATCHING!
I think you a pretty upset... yea JVG is creative, offensively not IMO, defensively yes...I don't think there is anyone better setting up plays defensively...we are moving well on pick and rolls, setting up screens, covering the 2nd man...
zero creative offensive plays? I actually think the rockets have quite a number of creative plays, a lot has to d with misdirection and if you watch away from the ball you will see more of that. Not a leader? tell this to all the players that have bought into him. No charisma? thats an opinion. just b/c you dont get him doesnt mean others dont. Not inspirational? ask chuck about the little note he got in his locker before game 2. this isnt cheerleading
I won't be surprised if JVG doesn't make it back. We have a new GM, and when management changes, a lot of other things can change to. It's not always about performance - and would explain the lack of a contract extension.
you are not watching the right way. don't watch the ball. watch what is going on away from the ball. like donkey magic said, there is a lot misdirection movement. a lot of backpicking, cutting, and good spacing. its like a machine, i don't understand how you can't apperciate it a little. This specific offense that caters to Yao and Tmac, it could not be done any better. D'Antoni could not do it better. Avery could not do it better. Sloan could not. JVG is super creative for Yao and TMAC. He is the perfect coach for Yao, and then Tmac.
There is only one coach who would soften the blow if JVG did decide to leave and that is Tom Thibedoua. He is essentially Yao Mings right hand man. He would have to be next in line.
If the Rockets don't bring JVG back and end up hiring an inferior coach, I will lose almost all respect for the organization and I imagine a good number of the players will also. The job he's done this year has been superb and those of you who deny that are hopeless. If anybody thinks we should have ended up winning 52 games with Yao missing 30+ games this season, then there is nothing JVG could ever do to satisfy you. Like any head coach, he isn't perfect. Like every coach in the NBA except 3, he hasn't "proven anything" because he hasn't won a championship. I disagree with some of his philosophies on offense and defense but the guy knows basketball, works very hard, prepares the team well and has the respect of the players. If another coach comes in and doesn't earn the same respect from the players, it will be tough here next year. Some of the JVG "hate" here is so ridiculous but that's just a part of NBA forums.
Yep, I have said repeatedly I don't think he is the right coach to win a championship.......but if he does, I will happily eat my words. DD
C'mon guys...It's Richard Justice here. And just to point out, Justice called Les A. a billionare owner. Les is worth $80 million. Hardly a billionare. Add in the Rox value, and it's still about $500 Million short. Such a moron
