that makes a lot of sense... but (and this may make me sound like a homer) if the rockets win the west how can you not vote for tmac?
I think JVG is biased because of his being in the West the past 4 years. It's true that the East sucks. But the Pistons are a good team. If Detroit were in the West, they would still be one of the contending team. To me, I gained a lot of respect for Cleveland because they beat Detroit in a 7-game series. LeBron should be on the list of possible candidates for this year's MVP, starting with Kobe and Paul. McGrady should be considered if the Rockets win the West. But it is not clear whether the Rockets' continued success after Yao's injury should be credited to T-Mac or to Adelman. BTW, IIRC, JVG also said that Dwight Howard was more deserving than Lebron.
Wait, so you're saying Denzel didn't deserve an Oscar for Training Day? That was a sick movie and Alonzo was one badass character. I thought he was unbelievable.
I know what McGrady would do against an Eastern Conference team not named Detroit, Boston, Orlando (toss up without Yao, still would take the Rockets easily though), and the Cavs (toss up without Yao, again still taking the Rockets. Rockets D controls Lebron pretty well). I'd take the Rockets to get to the Finals every year if we were in the East. The whole McGrady has never gotten out of the 1st round line is such a joke. His stats improve every time he's in the playoffs. His game doesn't decline. He doesn't suck it up. He's always had an inferior team to play with whether its from lack of talent or injuries. If the Rockets don't make it past the 1st round this season I won't be upset by it in the least. I definitely won't beat a dead horse by saying McGrady is a choke artist in the playoffs if we lose in the 1st again.
Exactly. He'd be on the outside looking in if he were in the West. And thats with a more favorable schedule going against Eastern Conference competition 4 times instead of 2. In context against other legit MVP contenders, it should come from someone out of the West.
I agree with JVG, he has good analysis. If you are in the 4th place in the Eastern, you are not the best. Tmac is a serious candidate now, especially if he wins the West. Some analysists said that with Wallace and the additions of Cleveland, they would be a top team in the East, but I dont think so.
I look at the Cavs roster and I can't say they look that bad. Lebron is an awesome player, but I don't think he INSPIRES the Cavs. Maybe its his age, maybe its his demeanor, no idea. But things clearly don't click in Cleveland chemistry wise. Just of that makes you not deserving of being MVP in my book. My MVP rankings? 1. Kobe: Best player in the league. 2. KG: Best player on the best team(record wise). He's the Shane battier of the MVP candidates, stats doesn't show what he does for this team. 3. Tmac: 22-game winning streak without the big fella. 4. Paul: Awesome record for such a young team. Would be higher, but he hasn't been able to beat some of the better teams without David West. If the Rockets stay in 1-2 seed in the west? TMAC for MVP. If he doesn't get MVP, i'll take Rick for COY, Rafer for MIP, & Scola for ROY.
