Too bad Van Gundy has had neither Yao nor Ming. ;)

To the contrary, I believe Van Gundy has done a good job adapting this team to missing an MVP-caliber player, as well as to starting an immobile center who can't score, having a PG who can't shoot, and having an old PF who had been underacheiving. Considering those obstacles, I believe JVG has done a tremendous job helping create good chemistry and a winning style of play.

There are games we lost- solely because he did not want to play people he had issues with.

why would they have won? b/c thats what you think? look, you can think that X player in Y situation would work...but that doesnt mean it will. its hypothetical. accept that fact that you could very well be wrong

There are games he would rather stick with his rotations- despite knowing that this will cost us the game. His stubborness to adapt is his biggest weakness

vspan? novak? jl3? come on dude, lets be real. the rockets are a top 5 team in the league and have not had yao since late dec and prior to that had a tracy that was far from 100%. And you are going to complain about bench scrubs not getting minutes? its mind boggling.

i think that since the rockets have been playing so well people forget that this team does have a lot of weaknesses, especially without yao.

Saying he is frustrated and will continue to work hard is not whining. Oh and I can assure you if he had said anything more Feigen whose pen is connected to Jeff's mouth would have reported it. Billy said more to the Greek paper but it wasn't malice and probably wasn't intended to get back to the US.

But let's forget about Billy for a moment. Why does JVG have to make these stupid comments. They serve no purpose. He has done it with Yao, Swift, MoT, Bonzi, Francis etc. ad nauseum. The Rockets are winning, they are playing good. I just recently posted that JVG would be my vote for COY. And I was even again getting okay with him. ANd then he makes these stupid comments. For Godsake these are his players, they are Rockets. Why can't he just shutup and coach.

HP, I read that but that was AFTER the Greek article......it seems that Fran and Feigan are just covering their butts for not reporting a large story.

The greek paper reported it, it was translated here, and the Chronicle HAD to do a story on it, then we hear after the fact that he had been telling everyone how frustrated he was....

Big A$$ Greek V-Span article...tranlsated on Janurary 20th..3 days PRIOR to Feigan's article

LOOK at post 42...where I CORRECTLY predicted the Chronicle would follow the lead of the BBS.

I said this: "Anyone want to bet that the Chronicle has an article about this in the next day or so? They are always following this board anyway !"

And in post 158 I said "As I said earlier in the thread....what is the over under on days before the Chronicle picks up on this story?"

    Maybe so, maybe no !

what i find funny about the trite argument "he cant adapt" is that JVG has been doing nothing but adapt since he's been in houston. He had to deal with francis/motay/and all that mess. then they got tmac, he had to adapt to that. Then added the other pieces that season (barry and wesley). then in the playoffs had to adapt again, with howard out and sura hobbled. last year was nothing but adaptation. etc etc.

believe it or not but there are many games he basically won because he did play people who guys like you have issues with and didn't play people who guys like you want to have (more) playing time.

it's funny how jvg haters always play down his role when it comes to wins but yet they are the first to blame the losses solely on him.

    keep on hating...

I hope Billy learned his lesson. Never ever whine about playing time while you don't have any power in your hand.

He now becomes the convenient target of the coach and some of the fans of this team. Watching how JVG, Chron and fans go after him is truly sad. Nobody will give a damn and nobody will back him because he is so insignificant, vulnerable and unable to fight back.

Vspan may have a future in NBA, but certainly not with Rox. Let this guy go.

    Wow the overreaction.

    I got one word:

    SARCASM. Check your radar.

JVG is a psychological genius. He knows how to motivate each individual player.

Much more motivationally diverse than Popovich, whose only motivational tool is blasting his players in the media. JVG is harsh on some and soft on others. You noticed how he didn't directly name anybody when talking about defense yesterday, but I am sure Tmac and Bonzi got the message without being humiliated.

This thing about VSpan wasn't even a criticism.

DIRECT LINK TO CLUTCHFANS.NET on Chronicle website

It is middle of the page, and has the Greek Newspaper translation as it's title.

    See.....BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE !!!

Chronicle follows the lead of Clutchfans and covers their butts by saying they knew of the article first.....

    SUUUUUUURRRRRRREEEE they did HP.

    This thread isn't about V-Span.

Its about JVG's brilliant quotes. Get with the program!

He does have some great quotes....like when he called Michael Jordan a con man, and Jordan scored 55 on him the next time they played.

Wow, JVG is a brilliant motivator.

Are you serious? You make him sound like a stray puppy. This guy is an adult professional athlete who is getting payed millions to chase a dream against the best competition in the world. If he is not up to it, he should not have come over here.

Its pretty simple. If he were up to the task of running the team, he would be playing more. Meanwhile, instead of focusing on improving, he is running his mouth to the media about being the Greek T-Mac. He will have many opportunities over the next two years to prove he can make it. That is a better chance than most wannabe-NBA'ers get.

Did you guys cry this much for Dan Langhi, Oscar Torres, Tierre Brown, or hell, even Scotty Padgett for that matter?

You really need to up your meds and step away from the computer for a while. All of these wild accusations that Van Gundy "hates Billy" and is otherwise the great Satan based on an obvious joke just makes you look kind of silly at this point. In your paranoia, you have made fellow Rockets fans into the enemy ("you JVG lovers") when most of us are just happy the team is doing so well with another year of injuries to the big two. Seriously, just take a break for a while.

    DaDakato,

    I swear, if you can't read Feigen's blog closer than that ... <font size=1>no comment</font>

    Here...Feigen said on January 23rd

"<i><b>In all of Billy's chats with the media -- with me last month, Fran last week, the Greek paper over the weekend</b>, a few locals on Monday and many more on Tuesday -- <b>he has expressed his frustration clearly.</b></i>"

Now you can call Feigen a liar, but that is a clear timeline.

Honestly guys, who scooped this is not the point...Feigen/Fran say he was talking well before the greek article. But still...who cares. To me it doesn't matter.

<b>bottomline:</b> It seems to me that OMR and DaDakota are making a big deal about whether Billly talked to Greek media or US media first...who cares....what difference does it make dudes. sheesh...

    Now that's funny! :D

I do agree with that statement if you add 2 letters.

JVG is a psycho illogical genius! Although genius is a bit much.
