I agree JVG is a lot like Parcells.

I think the comment is funny. I do think it might not have been appropriate to say in public to the media.

I'm not on V-Span's side in his complaints about playing time, but I think that should all be kept behind closed doors as much as possible. As funny as the quote was there is no need to publically humiliate V-Span.

This goes down as one of the best quotes I ever read. Shock and Awe! hehe

come on, Will... JVG is about as diametrically opposed to Phil J and Sloan ... i can't read this like you did. "public b****ing about public b****ing"

you honestly believe that quote by JVG is public b****ing?

Quote of the Year #3 for sure.

JVG has earned the right to say what he wants, It's up to V-span to shut him up.

I have a feeling Vspan might even think it's funny.

Yeah, I think the punchline goes something like "the bench player desperately wants to play/be successful and will give his all if his number is called, not for the coach but for himself" or something like that.

I agree with your first statement, though.

Come on guys, it's a brilliant quote no matter how you look at it.

Just like JVG to have the cheek to pull something like that to the media.

It's just a brilliant quote on many different levels. Haha.

I agree. JVG should make that comment, but make to V-Span and the team, and not to the media.

It doesn't take cheek to blab in the media, it takes cheek to do it in front of the player and team away from the media.

I like JVG, and I don't like Billy's argument about playing time he hasn't earned.

I also thought the quote was funny.

It just wasn't appropriate for JVG to say it to the media.

In the grand scheme of things it isn't a major offense, or anything all that bad, just something that could have been handled differently.

While I find the comment funny, I also find it classless.

Am I the only one here who doesn't see a very bright future in this league for Spanoulis?

Not to be a pessimist, but he can't shoot, not a great ball-handler, and isn't all that quick. He's a decent defender and can get to the basket, but still has to prove he'll be able to finish around the basket in the NBA (players are a little longer than they are in Greece).

I mean he was a freakin second round pick, and a lot of people here treat him like he's Mario Williams.

I don't know the tone or the context of Van Gundy's comments, but Billy almost deserves it for his b****ing about playing time when he's one of the worst two or three players on the roster.

This is just a bizzare situation. First V-SPAN and by this comment they extend it to Jake. Just a very stupid way of motivating people. Dont even go near Phil Jackson- when he says things he motivates them to do better.

There are way too many "JVG type Players" we have who have contributed little to nothing. All it takes is to be a kiss-ass.

I have no issue if JVG does not want V-span, why the hell does he have to go there one more time. IT seems JVG is now picking a battle with the Future GM. Dont get me wrong- JVG is a great coach but these kind of things are what differentiates him from being a Hall of Fame calibre- a la Jackson or Riley.

Sure we are winning- and if you guys think it is all because of the coach that is just plain ridiculous. This outburst shows immaturity.

Classic multi pronged zinger by JVG.

I'm sure he and Billy are laughing at the reaction to this as the "Little Dictator" gets to jack with the media.

    Also...a reminder for VSpan.

Funniest thing I've read in a while. Some of you guys spend way too much energy looking for reasons this will tear apart our team. I have to agree with "Lighten up Francis"!

The way I read it (which of course is correct) is that JVG was playing with the media and taking a playful jab @ V-Span. His comments at the end of the article about how he likes Billy tells me he meant it as a joke. If V-span was done here or JVG wanted to ship him out and this was a mean-spirited attack, I don't think he would have added that he liked Billy.

How long till the (daily) threads pop up saying we need to play Tsakalidis more since he's not being developed and he is the missing piece to our championship run? ;) FREE THE GREEKS! FREE THE GREEKS!

Agreed, the last quote by JVG shows he's being playfull--he probably likes VSpan but it was a bit over the top for Jake who just came in...

why are you rooting for VSPAN??

did Sam Cassell complain about not getting time to Rudy? Sam EARNED HIS TIME and went on and proved that he was special.

VSPAN is not earning anything. he may be the big baklava back in the Euroleague, but he's just pita bread here.
