Even if the Rockets were very good JVG will never give credit to the team. Dallas has a good record like ours because they have beaten the teams they should be. They lost last night to the Pistons and if the Rockets win they will be tied with Dallas. I think that JVG might be feeling the pressures of not getting a new contract. I just hope the Rockets make the right moves concerning Sura and Bonzi.

Well if Sura can go he will and he will play.

I say screw Bonzi unless he changes his attitute we don't need that crap.

Remember guys we still have a trade exeption, if we need help we have options that are better than this loser.

IIRC, Hayes and Battier were the ones guarding Dirk last time we beat the Mav

Agree with that. I am a little bit upset about JVG in the last few games. He seems have a very negative image in his mind for every player of this team built under his coaching. Most of Players need to be encouraged to play better.

JVG says the things he says to the media for one reason and one reason only. The media are a bunch of gossip hounds and he doesn't want to give them anything to run with. On a side, by doing this he keeps his team mentally focused on improving and reaching for higher goals. Weak minded teams don't win championships.

The logic that some of you use about JVG's interview demeanor is just flat wrong. If you have ever heard him on radio shows he is a hoot and has a great personality. The post game and pre game interviews are his angle, his stick if you will. He has to manage the mental part of his players game as well and you don't do that by telling the media the things you guys are wanting to hear from him. That leads to teams reading their own press and going soft which leads to losing. And nobody wants to lose....

Who do you think are the top 4? He was telling his opinion. Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas and Utah are the top 4 best regular season teams according to JVG. I would take out Phoenix and replace them with Miami. I don't agree with him on putting Phoenix in there, either. Phoenix won't make it the finals. Shaq will be fine by the playoffs, he is always nursing injuries before all-star break.

My original post should probably be rewritten as "I hope he's not laying excuses for another first round playoff exit."

If his words were to be true and the playoffs were to start today, these four teams would be the top 4 seeds in the WC. I don't have problem with JVG messing around with a guy like SAS in the "media," but the notion just sickens me that we are always in the underdog position year after year to go up against "elite teams" in the west. I think even with TMac playing at a less than superstar level, barring injuries to all the contributing players, we are as good as any of the four teams he mentioned. It's all about playing to your potential.

    I don't.

We have the worst PG (by FAR) of those 4 teams, a suspect bench, and zero depth in the frontcourt and shaky depth in the backcourt -- as well as a lack of motivation at times, and not much playoff experience or past success to build off of (Utah is in the same boat).

I am sure none of these has anything to do with coaching.

Why so negative? lol. Btw if bonzi plays we'll be worst off...you can't just join a new team in the middle of the year and expect to have an immediate impact. I think we'll get the third seed. Call me optimistic.

I think it's more lack of offensive flow and not motivation, but true...rafer is the worst of the four teams. I just hope T-mac gets his mojo back, I really miss his four-point plays and amazing lay-ups...not to mention his shot.

I love Hayes and his hustle, but I'm not sure if he's enough for a real playoff run. He may be too much of an offensive liability unless he learns to hit jumpers.

Then on top of that, there is Alston's shooting problems and Shane's seeming reluctance to look for his own shot. I know our team is centered around our two superstars, but do we have enough at our other three positions?
It's too early to panic, but as outstanding as our defense has been, I'm a little concerned.

And as for gloom-and-doom Gundy, here's a reminder from Feigen's blog that every once in a while, JVG can be a positive ray of light.

And here's JVG gushing about Spanoulis:

BTW, both the quotes came after our win against the Wizards. JVG must've been having one of his happy days. :)
