Yeah, looks like Hayes is going to be wearing a rockets uniform for a long time. That was good to hear. The way he said it, I think it's pretty much a lock that they'll sign him for the rest of the season come weekend. Was surprised he didn't mention Lonnie Baxter though, but then, he already has a contract. I really hope Moochie is the one that gets cut...

Hayes is definitely here for the rest of the season, JVG's tone pretty much indicated that.

anybody get the impression that Hayes is just playing for a contract? Maybe it's just me after witnessing how Taylor and Cato played after they got those contracts.

I did not follow Cato during his days at Iowa State but I follwed Motay and Chuck. Mo has always not been the hardest worker on the floor and always played soft since his days as a Wolverine. On the hand anyone who follows UK bball will atest that Chuck's game is that of limited talent and highest level of effort. His effort will likely not diminish - effort for him I believe comes to him naturally. This is also evident in the other where different coaches gave their views of lil Hayes.

So my hunch says - the guy you see now will be the same guy you will see almost every night ala Ben Wallace, the Bowens, Iverson, Battier, Rip, Reg Evans, Nash, Gadzuric etc. These guys where good, average or poor will bring it the same way every game.

I don't think so, he's one of those Ryan Bowen types that gives his all every night. However, he doesn't have much talent from what I can see, I think at best he's an Udonis Haslem type of player, which is not bad at all given that his price is low.

those coaches comments/scouting reports from the other thread on hayes are spot on in regards to what we've seen the last few days. i doubt anything changes once he gets a contract.
