Kobe had a starting line up of Kwame, Smush and Walton, and he made playoff twice in a row, in most nights had to score 40 to have a chance. If Tracy had this lineup in west? He'd call it a retirement.

Case and point: Bynum goes out and the team starts to lose and the gm is afraid of missing the playoffs. They get Gasol,starts rolling again until he goes down. Now Kobe is suppose to be the best player in the league, yet can stay .500 without bynum or gasol.

The team had a pf combination of hayes and howard and a backup of deke and padgett along with rafer,battier, and luther head. leading scorer and rebounder goes down for 30 games and the team plays .630 ball. Fast forward a year later and the center goes down again and with 3 rookies playing minutes, the team plays .700 ball. Show me another player in the league other than Duncan,James, and maybe Nash that controls their teams success more than McGrady. Now people don't lke that, but that's just the way it is.

It's not about what you can do when the other star is out. It's about what you can do when the other star is there. TM couldn't get past first round with the best center in the league for 4 straight years, is there even a more overrated superstar?

I know TMac has been on the decline, and Bryant & Wade are faster & jump higher now, but TMac has bigger impact on the game than both of those guys, that's evident by the results when Yao was out in the past couple years. Neither the Lakers with Bryant, nor the Heat with Wade, had gone anyway when the other stars of the team were out. TMac doesn't have to score to have an impact on the game, he does so many other things on the offensive end.

James is a better version of TMac, that guy is head & shoulder above everyone else in this league.

On the defensive end, that's a different story

when tmacs healthy hes as good as kobe. just cuz he always injured he cant reach kobes level. all he needs is a 70+ game season. the team actually needs that for the rox to getta good playoff spot
