Which is exactly my point. He's not the go-to-guy on that team. He's the third option, benefiting off the first two options. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. Great player and purest shooter out there.

JVG said Starbury can be a GOOD player on a championship-caliber team.

And I agree. He still has speed. His penetration is tough to contend with. He's better than half the starting point guards in this league. If he goes to Boston, the East is doomed. I think he'll end up there to play with his boy KG.

some of you guys are f#$king r****ded in your rankings. i mean seriously are you just being cute?

rudy gay? ben gordon? ginobili? ray allen? jason freaking richardson?

im pretty sure the same type of idiot who tells me that chuck hayes shouldn't be in the league also says ben gordon and rudy gay are better than t-mac.

mcgrady gets a lot of flak and some of it is rightfully deserved but as far as shooting guards go wade and kobe are absolutely the only other players who could do as much with any of t-mac's teams as he has. you think rudy gay is leading this team to the playoffs after yao goes down? get out of here.

I'd consider Lebron a shooting guard. I'd put a healthy Gilbert Arenas ahead of TMac simply because he has a lot of years left in him. 2 years ago I would have put Tracy as a top 2 shooting guard. He's slipped since though. It could have to do with coaching and motivation, b/c TMac had great respect for JVG. He played well even when he was hurt, particularly on the road.

And I'd also put Paul Pierce and AI ahead TMac.

Uhh... LeBron's a small forward. And You have to say Joe Johnson's been better than T-Mac at this point.

Which TMac are you talking about? If you are talking about the TMac who just came back of knee surgery, couldn't play 100%, then he should not even be ranked in the top 20. But if you want to talk about the TMac pre-surgery, I'd rank him ahead all players other than James.

I know TMac has been on the decline, and Bryant & Wade are faster & jump higher now, but TMac has bigger impact on the game than both of those guys, that's evident by the results when Yao was out in the past couple years. Neither the Lakers with Bryant, nor the Heat with Wade, had gone anyway when the other stars of the team were out. TMac doesn't have to score to have an impact on the game, he does so many other things on the offensive end.

James is a better version of TMac, that guy is head & shoulder above everyone else in this league.

On the defensive end, that's a different story ;)

This is a pretty good list. Though at this point, I might put Roy ahead of Mac and Manu.

i'm assuming that t-mac is as good as he was last year if he's healthy. in which case he's better than both roy and joe johnson.

Well according to one of the post in the Spurs/Rockets game thread it looks like we need to add Luther Head to the list of Shooting Guards better than T-mac.

Also if he only had the talent that came in the the year after he left.

Van Gundy's last year was Chuck Hayes starting, Juwan Howard off the bench, a mind-f***'d Bonzi Wells and Spanoulis as the offseason additions, and Luther Head as a 6th man, enough said. Van Gundy already had a foundation in place. Just needed players to complement it.

Also, if he coulda left that doghouse back in New York :)

But yeah, Van Gundy believed heavily in McGrady's talents and still obviously does. Doesnt mean Adelman doesnt & cant relate, just some people relate better to each other than others

agree, Roy is fully talented, he is better than Tmac, now I only want Tmac to do is when he is on the court, he can make our offense smoothly, not all our players on the court playing the game by their talent, not a unity.

As of now McGrady is not a top SG. However, when healthy, you can put McGrady above wade, and Kobe in several occasions. Now some of you will say I'm a homer for putting McGrady above Kobe in "several occasions", but I honestly don't think Mcgrady would shoot 11-33 in a lost and call it a simple off night shooting. This was the game Battier ripped Kobe a new one.

Ironically, sometimes it appears McGrady's fear of shooting (playing the passing and rebounding more) that makes McGrady better than Kobe in many occasions. Kobe is definately still a better player than McGrady even when Mcgrady is healthy, but Kobe WILL shoot your team out the game. However, I still think McGrady's playmaking abilities is the best in the league for a swingman. Kobe cannot make players better the way McGrady does, and this is one of the main reasons why Mcgrady is still worth a big contract.
