I don't know why so many people complain about LeBron's dunks. He's no prime Vince Carter, but who is? Kobe has had no dunks this year where he did anything creative. Dwyane Wade is not a "creative" dunker, nor is T-Mac any more. Even Vince Carter doesn't really do anything noteworthy nowadays. What reverse 360 windmills have they done?

LeBron dunked from 1 foot inside the free throw line, dunks two-handed from a step inside the free throw line, does a reverse windmill every once in a while, dunked on Garnett, Duncan, Diop, Jones (lmao), etc. He's not super-creative, but he's a power dunker.

If he's a boring dunker, who are these exciting in-game dunkers?

Lebron was top 10 in steals last yr and this season. He's definitely stepped it up a notch. There was an interesting article where Mike Brown made LBJ, Z, Ben, and someone else (I can't believe I forgot...maybe Delonte) the 'committee'. He wanted them to make everyone and each other accountable on the court. You know you can't tell someone to play better defense when you aren't doing it yourself. I think this may have helped spur Lebron too. (BTW, kind of unrelated but Urban Meyer uses a somewhat similar concept at Florida.)

As for this silly dunking argument, I'll take Lebron's patented 'drive through two defenders and dunk on another two defenders' power dunk over being fancy. You can't tell me that isn't more exciting...unless you really like And1 shows.

Is there anyone here who still thinks Kobe was the better player last year?

Isn't that what we want Defensive MVPs to do (Hakeem, Wallace). He want them not just to contain their man by and large, but impact their whole team's defense.

I didn't like him at first, got all this hype for doing nothing, then I liked him a lot for how he played the game. Lately I havn't liked him as much with that Yankee cap wearing thing in his hometown (thought it completely crass and disrespectful to all the home town fans who have supported him throughout--basically giving millions of adorers the finger).

But there is no argument about his game. He was obviously the best player in the league last year (to me he was in the regular season, the post-season where he almost beat the Celts himself cemented it).

The only guy near hear his performance is Wade--I am not sure if there impact is the same, based on their team's play it is hard to argue equal impact despite Wade's similarly phenom numbers (comparable PER and overall stats as Lebron).

Kobe plays much more like that than LeBron does. LeBron gambles sometimes, but his recovery speed is excellent and he rarely gets burned. He's actually played very good man-to-man defense and rotates beautifully playing team defense. He is the best defender on the second best defense in the NBA.

Even still, I am very much against perimeter guys winning the award and Dwyane Wade has a better case than LeBron for it. LeBron should be considered for the defensive team, though.

If the NBA has those dunks to be its finest this year then something is definitely wrong. he dunked it 1 foot inside the FT line, so did Clyde, its been replicated. That second jam looks like a move Kobe Bryant did just last week. That other two handed dunk looked pretty good but again nothing new. Is it possible for him to do a different type of dunk besides the original one or two handed power dunks? He obviously has the air time all he needs is just to add some creativeness. This is the NBA, we watch players/teams to be entertained. LeBron IMO hasn't shown us anything new that hasn't been done.

What other players are doing better dunks on a consistent basis?
