The Blazers have won 4 of their last 6 games, with their 2 losses being to us by 30 and a 5 point loss to the Suns at Phoenix. Sure they're a team we were supposed to beat, but hardly a team in disarray. I like the way the team plays for him. Have they come out with poor efforts in back to back games this year? I just hope we can be full strength when the stretch run comes. I want this team to believe how good they can be.
He should get serious consideration for Coach of the Year. We played the league's toughest schedule with "enough guys to win with" night in and night out and have the 5th best record.
Pay attention Cab man !!! After all the vitriole I got for my JVG takes, I took a step back and reviewed my disdain for his coaching style. I actually found that his coaching style is a lot like my posting style...brutally honest, and that is something I can appreciate. I still find a lot of flaws in how he goes about things and think that he leaves the team weak by not playing some younger guys...but....I can still respect him. As for coach of the year, it will depend on how he finishes...... DD
Yeah, JVG is a good coach but he only focuses on short-term success and couldn't capitalize his roster fully. He also has strong player favoritisim which leads to starters' long playing time that in turn, makes them more prone to injury.
Which is exactly my main beef with him...but results are results. Up by nearly 40 tonight...hopefully the bench will play the ENTIRE 4th quarter. DD
See....you got what you want. This is the first time this year we have been ahead this much in the third quarter and we didn't have to make sure T-mac and the other starting 5 were ready to get back into the game to finish it out. I am telling you....JVG got these guys to buy into his system and now that they are winning we are rolling (down hill) and gaining steam. I think that all we need is the strong veteran PG off the bench to help the team get further into the play-offs.
