The do it now more than ever in football (soccer). The flopper gets a yellow card if they are caught. Granted they still do some nice dives but if you are beyond blatant about it then they will card you. I agree with everyone hear that says there should be a review after the fact. Over time if they get fined enough and even have to sit out games because of excessive flops that are caught via review, then they will slowly change their game. All these years of playing basketball and I hardly have been hit hard enough for me to fly around like some of these guys do. They are all almost on the same level size and strength wise that they should be able to take a decent hit an not go flying.
At the very, very least, the league should be able to catch those that are obvious. Those where it's clear that a player fell down despite never having contacted anything but air. I agree that it's difficult to catch some stuff, like an offensive player flailing his arm about while running out of control to the basket. Or players randomly falling down inside the paint where you can't get a good look. But every single game there is at least one replay that shows someone flopping so obviously that you can't possibly doubt that it happened. At least start calling those.
I think he's saying that to set up the "real ass *****" part, with special attention to the "*****" which I think starts with the word n.
HELL YES !!! And make it reviewable, where the ref can wave his hand to look at it at the next stoppage in play. That way it does not hurt the continuity of the game, treat is like they do when they want to look at the 3pt line shots.....that are in doubt. And reward a tech if the flop is obvious. DD
Nope, not right now, he doesn't work for the league and where he works pays the leagues bills..... I would not mind him crusading a bit more here, and calling Stern out for what he makes a year....****ING AWESOME ! DD
Mike Breen being a former official is pretty much common knowledge since he brings it up quite often when he broadcasts games. He almost always sides with the officials.
what i find funny, and by funny i mean i want to get in the fetal position and cry, The commissar always talks about making teams more competitive. HE could easily do that by putting his minions in line and getting rid of superstar calls, that according to him, do not exist. He could also change the lottery format. what makes it even funnier is that he, along with all his minions, then wonder why the players are such big dbags. They encourage it all.
