Jeff Van Gundy, the fluid-filled robot. Never mind the oxymoron. I like it. All you guys who've been begging the FFR to play Spanoulis and/or Wells, your wish is granted.
Vspan got too carried away in the preseason, turn the ball over too many times. Commit too many fouls and that hurt him and that's why jvg doesn't pla him, jvg hate turn over prone players. But that's not who vspan is, he tried really hard in the preseason, i thik jvg need to recognize that and trust him more. He's more ready then most last 1st round and 2nd round rookies. He got experience. Play him more, he can only get better
I'm not in Houston and I didn't watch the game on TV. I'm glad to know VSpan got more minutes to play. I'd like to ask guys who watched the game live, what's JVG's motive of playing VSpan? Is it because JVG finally realized the value of VSpan and there must be a change made in the rotation, or is it because Synder's sudden injury made him no choice but to play VSpan? If Synder didn't injure, would we have seen VSpan playing that much minutes? Thanks in advance for responding.
Ok, you all got your wish, but does anyone truly think VS will be able to stay on the court for more than a qtr? I watched a couple pre-season games, he seemed like a foul machine out there.
Synder's sudden injury made him no choice but to play VSpan cuz span didn't come into the court until the 3rd quarter if jeff realized something, the 2nd quarter is the time when span should play
what are u talking about?? he had 1 turnover, and u cant really call that a bad pass because it was more of a great interpretation by the defensive player...
I have to agree with u on that one.. he's not exactly a worse version of rafer, but he's not experienced, a turnover machine, and he always gets owned on D..
Last week in my company league I hit 7 3's, maybe I should play for the Rockets? Summer league means nothing. JLIII was terrible in the preseason, and he wouldn't be any better with minutes. Why does everyone always want to think that the 12th man on the bench is some budding superstar waiting to happen? I'm sure he's destroying everyone in practice and JVG just likes the challenge of making it as hard as possible to win...
Snyder's injury opened up PT for Spanoulis. However, JVG still had to decide to go with him instead of, say, Rafer, Head, Howard, Padgett, etc, in the 4th. I like the crunch time lineup with Yao, Battier, McGrady and two guards.
did anyone watch the postgame show?? did y'all hear what JVG said?? he basically said everything I and many other Clutchfans posters have been saying for the past 2 weeks.. .. boy, it took him a while to get, but I am very happy that he finally did..!!! even though he was forced to put Span in because of Kirk's injury (which means that he's still the old JVG), he showed some signs of improvement when he was like: "Span gave us the energy we needed in the 4th, he played good Defense on NY's backcourt and that's how we won" (not eact quote) I am pretty sure we would've won (or avoided the headache in the Bulls game) if that genius played Span against Spurs (Udrih led the come back, Span would've killed him), Bulls (Gordon would've probably asked the coach to bench him), and even against Detroit (he could've messed with Billups and slowed down the team) now the big question is: are we gonna see Novak playing and sinking three after three now that Snyder is out?
He did fine today and doesn't need to play much more than a quarter to have an impact on the game. As the season goes on, we'll see how he develops.
btw, why didn't Span run the point?? JVG had him play the 2 guard while Head played the 1.. I am guessing because of Span's TOs
im not gonna lie, truthfully at the beginning when we got v-span, i was excited, then when i saw him play at preseason i wanted to e-mail rox before the last cuts were gonna be made and tell them to cut him, but now from tonights game against ny dicks....er....knicks, i think he should be playing all the time. next move is start playing novak.........does anybody smell an 05-06 heat caliber team???
Actually, fluid-filled robots may not be all that farfetched: see the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrorheological_clutch">electrorheological clutch</a>. "Clutch city" may mean something completely different one day.
If JVG really wants to play VSpan, he should give him 10-15 minutes per game from now till the end of the year to see how he develops. I'd also like to see JVG start playing him in the first half(say 2nd quarter). I believe in the first half we can afford a few billy's TO's. It's important for him to gain experience in the early period of the game so he can be relied on more and more in the crunch time late in the season.
