I've got to believe this is some sort of accident. I mean, even if Juwan invested poorly and spent money like an idiot, I have a very hard time believing he isn't still worth AT LEAST twenty million dollars. It's just got to be an accident or misunderstanding or something. That, or Juwan just watched that episode of the Sopranos where Tony pulled this move. However, I really like the idea that if convicted the Rockets could void his contract. Of course, we'd probably still be over the cap so I'm not sure that would even really help us.
Rockets' Howard accused of shoplifting By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle Houston Rockets forward Juwan Howard was accused today of shoplifting a $2,000 pair of sunglasses from a Miami-area optical store. Miami police are investigating the claim, but no charges have been filed and Howard has denied any wrongdoing. "I'm aware of the situation and have spoken to my attorney," Howard said in a statement. "I will vigorously defend myself and (I) am confident I'll be cleared of these baseless charges." The owner of Eye Q Optical in South Beach told Miami television stations that he has a surveillance tape showing Howard take a pair of sunglasses, though he has not allowed media outlets see the tape. "We are aware and will continue to monitor the situation," Rockets spokesman Nelson Luis said. "We understand Juwan is cooperating fully and is proclaiming his innocence." Howard, 33, a 12-year NBA veteran, played the past two seasons with the Rockets and has three seasons (including one at his option) remaining on a six-year, $36.9 million contract he signed with the Orlando Magic.
those were special glasses that protected Juwan's face from all the BRICK dusts accumulating around the rim.
I don't know, but this smells very fishy. Juwan Howard? There could have been a "wink wink" and "nod nod" thing here that went awry: Sort of like "that's on my tab" kind of thing and the owner's wanting to get the only kind of publicity there is. This just doesn't wash for me. It's close to what it would be like if Yao was accused of stealing 22 video games. Huh? It's sad, but "All's well that ends well." I often hate my culture.
You guys suck. Kick a man when he's down. Juwan's offense wasn't the problem for the Rockets. the fact that he's a starter on the team and the lack of rebounding and defense was a problem, but he's what we had. I'll stick to the rule of innocent until proven guilty. Now back to the lack of class and showing of ass...
yeah, I believe Juwan simply forgot to pay, he was eager to even up the one-on-one battles over at Stevie Wonder's house.
hahaha my god man r u serious? juwon stealin with his contract size n all?? i dont believe it for a second
that article turn out to be true? if so stealing plus givin herpes intentionally doesnt look good on our team. hope both are fake. on a funny note, not only did winona get caught ,the main guy from "gremlins" stole a cd "for the thrill" not to long ago
This isnt even his biggest theft. The one that should have made the headlines is him stealing millions $$ from the Rockets for pretending to be a PF. Anyways, this might end up being the best defensive play of Juwan Howard's career.
