Lol I don't understand why all the hate for juwan...i know he is not the best of players...big contracts (underserved)...but still i don't feel he deserves the hate. I really don't mind him as a person. In fact I feel that he is actually a good teammate/team player. anyway just my thought... As someone has said...he is still playing???
I agree with you. Juwan played in a total of 42 games last year, initially 3 with the Nuggets and 39 with the Bobcats. He scored 4.4 points in 11.5 minutes with a FG of 0.510 with the Bobcats. His rebounding was disappointing at 1.8. He still can be somewhat useful for a 15 year pro at the age of 36.
Juwan has had a long and extremely well paid career- will be an asset in Portland- strong inside game---may have shoplifted sunglasses, but the greater theft was from NBA teams who paid him
Lol at Christian Laettner. I still can't believe he was on the greatest team ever assembled. Who in the hell made that decision???
While you are right Laettner was better than Swift career wise- he was so highly praised at pre-draft and I thought was a huge disappointment as a pro Not a screw up like Derrick Coleman-just not significant as a professional
http://www.nba.com/blazers/ Trail Blazers Sign Juwan Howard The Portland Trail Blazers have signed free agent forward Juwan Howard to a one-year contract, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. “Juwan Howard will add a wealth of experience and veteran savvy to our young, talented roster,” said Pritchard. “We look forward to Juwan's contributions on the court and in the locker room.” Howard (6-9, 250, Michigan) holds career averages of 14.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 1,043 games (871 starts) over a 15-year NBA career with Washington, Dallas, Denver, Orlando, Houston and Charlotte.
Or better yet, Scola at his level right now. Wouldn't have mattered though. It was proven that the series against the Mavs was rigid. Thanks Donaghy.
You have to remember he was a much better college player than pro. He was a stud at Duke and pretty much underachieved in the NBA.
He's a solid veteran who can do a spot start here and there. Has good range on his jumper and is smart, though his rebounding and defense are subpar.
Laettner disappointing? Yes BUST? No There's a difference. Christian Laettner to Stromile Swift is like Andrew Bogut to Kwame Brown. Laettner got the typical JJ Redick Tyler Hansbrough ACC Player of the Year trying way too hard to reward the great college career treatment. Though teams knew to still draft Shaq and Mourning ahead of him... And YES this is a brutal offseason when Juwan Howard and Christian Laettner are extensively discussed.
