welp. At least it wasn't the Dodgers.

Great pickup on a loaded Mets team. Him and Max the classic old school 1,2 punch

Definitely thankful for all the memories JV!! Stros vs Mets in the 2023 WS!

Glad that's over. No way we do $43M a year so see ya big fella. HUGE appreciation for all you did while an Astro.

No hard feelings, appreciate everything he helped us accomplish. He had an amazing season and wanted to be compensated as best as possible.

He had an absurd run with us, but not matching that number was smart IMO. Too much risk involved for a pitcher that age and at a spot where we have depth.

Good for him. Will always consider him an Astro, and I’m just glad he’s in the NL and not on the Dodgers.

Now we’ve definitely got some play money for the offense.

    Agreed.

Felt like the way the wind was blowing. Time to sign Judge and trade for Ohtani and Trout. I expect the first domino by Wednesday of this week at the latest.

    Thanks for everything JV.

Enjoy the cold weather, high taxes and watching the WS from home.

Maybe they'll give him the same run support they gave Jacob DeGrom.

    Good luck with all that.

    11-9 2.43 era

    I could see that happening

I am happy for him. I'm glad the Astros didn't do 43 million per year.

This is the best possible outcome for the Astros if Verlander was leaving. He doesn't sign with another AL team, he doesn't improve the 111-win Dodgers, and the Mets are replacing deGrom with him which is a wash.

I'd much prefer they spend that 43 mil upgrading left field and/or catcher.

I am glad it didnt turn into a all off-season spectacle. Its over, and now we can get on with filling out the team.
And I hope more pitching is part of it.
