Justices may take centrist view of 'Bong Hits'

    See my first post in this thread. Whether this occurred at a school function is at the crux of this case. If it happened after school and off school grounds I don't think there would be much dispute that the school had no standing in regulating student speech.

    IIRC, the parade was held during school hours, but the student did not attend school that day.

    Next time he should just write "Beer Bong Hits for Jesus".

    Then he's advocating underage drinking, which would fall under the same rule.

    "Stem Cells 4 Jesus", however, may have been really interesting. I'm pretty sure that one ends with a "go directly to Gitmo, do not invoke habeas corpus" card.

    If you are going to overturn free speech, they it better be for a clear and unmistakeable reason....like yelling fire in a theatre is going to cause harm to people.

    But this doesn't come near that. The school has failed to make a convincing case and no restriction should come out of this.
