It's a shame because I don't mind their show, but he's just not good. It's particularly bad because his predictions are almost ALWAYS wrong. It's not even close. I tried Ware and Vandermeer, but if it isn't football, they don't know much at all and Ware gets too easily offended by callers. I like Lance a lot, but I was never a Granato fan or a big fan of the morning show on 610. Rich and Matt are better than Rich and Marc, but Matt and Adam were the best, IMO. Charlie is great, but he can get a little tough to listen to by himself. He's better with a co-host. The morning show on 790 is, to me, unlistenable. It's like listening to Walters and Johnson or something equally as stupid.
this is gonna sound a bit arrogant...but lopez doesn't know jack about baseball...but he really believes he does.
a good source told me that lance will go solo, so i don't get the Justice pairing the drama unveils like a spanish soap ....
could there be a more arrogant sports host with so many wrong predictions. "yao ming could carry the 94 rockets to a championship" dude, don't make me hate on yao, but that was the tops. my whole opinion of him turned upside down. that imfamous show. and then the idiot doesn't even acknowledge that he may have been wrong when the rockets don't make it out of the first round. I can't believe I actually used to like the show.
dukes could be replaced by a can of paint tomorrow and the show would likely benefit greatly. but i think davies has potential. he's actually a competent interviewer and he does his homework - i mean, he was living in buffalo a year ago (or wherever) and he has a much better handle on things than dukes does. the problem is that the station needs to give up chasing the ticket (the dallas version, not the useless one here). i think its borderline sleazy to listen to grown men discuss pictures of women on the air, not to mention, completely counterproductive with the concept of RADIO. everything feels forced and disingenuous. and don't even get me started on the mongoloids of the midday... baby jesus, that's bad radio... and i agree with everyone's take on vandemeer and ware - ware is bland personified; there isn't a cliche he hasn't taken out behind the junior high and impregnated. he also suffers from spencer tillman disease - he needlessly overtalks in a desperate attempt to sound intelligent. the other day, he kept noting how much ahman green was going to help "a guy like matt schaub..." and i kept thinking, "if only the texans HAD a guy like matt schaub - oh, that's right: they have matt schaub."
Lance isn't doing a show with Justice....this thread is a month old and I complained about the thread title back then...it's misleading.
I completely stopped listening to sports talk radio since Dan Patrick went off the air. That was honestly the only show I thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to. Otherwise, I used to listen to a portion of the John & Lance show, then switched to Dan Patrick at noon on 790AM and then just kept the dial on 790AM for Pallilo. In less than a few months, the local sports talk scene has been transformed from average/bearable to disastrous/worse than crap. Either way, I am only going to listen now when the Rockets season gets underway. Otherwise, it's not worth the calories I burn reaching for my radio.
You must have read my mind. 100% agree on everything you said. I just got back after spending 3 days in Dallas. The quality of sports radio up there is soooooo much better than Houston it's astounding. Listening to the depth of the Cowboys talk made me envious. One of our stations should overpay and bring a couple of their folks down here. One of the reasons sports radio here has about 1/5 the audience it does in Dallas is because the Dallas stations are so much better.
i'm curious about how 1560 will be. my friend is gonna be doing one of the sports shows on the station, whenever it starts up, so i'm kinda excited. look out for him - Raheel Ramzanali.
