I don't think the Left OR the Right will try to appoint a moderate. The days of reasonable politicians are far gone..

I know it will never happen but there needs to be a term limit on supreme court justices. Maybe 12 years, or 16 years but life time is way too long.
Since the court has become partisan... driven by partisan selection to it, we need a higher threshold to avoid too extremist judges. Re-establish the 60 vote necessary to move forward with the president choice is more realistic.
Or like everything else in politics, term limits. 9 SCOTUS with 3 JR SCOTUS in the wing. Rotate a SCOTUS out every two years.
